This posting will remain open until filled. This is for a 1.0 FTE Head Girls Lacross Coach position, which will begin with the 22/23 Lacrosse season.

Job Purpose Statement: The Head Girls Lacrosse Coach will lead and organize the high school Girls Lacrosse program. Lead in establishing an environment in which student athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image. Directs the promotion of sportsmanship, program equity and inclusion, a winning attitude and commitment to student academic success.
Essential Job Functions:
- The Head Coach directs and supervises organized practice sessions, including season goals and objectives.
- Works to improve skills and knowledge of each athlete and the team as a whole.
- Selects team members according to competitive levels.
- Enforces appropriate team rules and team discipline.
- Serves as a role model and encourages good sportsmanship, both on and off the field.
- Adheres to requirements of athletic eligibility.
- Adheres to District Athletic Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures of league or association and applicable OSAA/Oregon Lacrosse governing body rules.
- Works harmoniously with others and communicates effectively (both orally and written) with students, parents, officials and staff.
- Submits rosters, equipment and uniform inventories and other reports as required.
- Monitors expenditures in relation to budget and monitors proper use, care, and return of uniforms and other assigned equipment.
- Supervises and arranges for proper supervision of student/athletes during practices, games, travel, and related activities.
- Notifies media of program and contest information when appropriate.
- Consults with Assistant Coach concerning playing conditions, safety concerns, program improvements, player performance, outside complaints, and other related matters.
- Work with athletes to establish game plans and review match performance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess OSAA/State of Oregon, Department of Education Coaching certification (NFHS or ASEP), Steroid and Concussion Training Certification.
- Possess current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Successful High School coaching experience; ability to motivate students.
- Ability to collaborate with youth programs, students, parents, the community, administration, staff and other HRVHS coaches.
- Willingness to coach after school, travel with the team and supervise students.
- Ability to meet the attendance requirements of the position.
- Experience within school recruitment of athletes and team building.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Lacrosse coaching experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish helpful.
- Successful fund-raising experience.
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skills possessed will exemplify a moral character that is consistent with being a positive role model for all students. Skill and ability to teach lacrosse skills and fundamentals.
Knowledge of lacrosse at the high school level (to include recent rule changes). Through cooperation and communication with assistants, develop a system of play that can be effectively communicated with to implement at the high school level. Ability to communicate effectively with athletes and parents. Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
Ability to work harmoniously with others. To organize and manage students time effectively. To use problem solving strategies consistently. Adjusts to performing practices in a variety of locations. Ability to motivate students.
License, Certifications, Bonding and/or Testing Required: district pre-employment, post offer drug screening and physical abilities assessment; Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance; Completion of District-required mandatory employee trainings prior to working with students/athletes; NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification or ASEP Certifications; Concussion training, Heat Illness Prevention, Performance enhancing Drugs & Substances Training, First Aid/CPR Certification. Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon hire, or qualify for an exception.
The 2022/23 Lacrosse season begins February 27, 2023. The coaching contract will be based on verified, paid coaching experience in Lacrosse, at the same responsibility level.
