Please note, the salary range for this position is $38,000 - $45,000.
Epworth seeks a qualified individual to be responsible for providing families with a wide array of services to equip and supply family members with the necessary tools to successfully prevent out-of-home placement or reunification services. Use the training and supervision guidance to implement an evidence-based model. Teach by direct methods, generally including the following components: presentation of the skill, modeling, role-play, constructive feedback, coaching, praising, and encouraging.
The Community-Based Specialist will develop an understanding of systems that serve families including the legal, social services, health care, and school systems. Consult and advocate with other service providers when appropriate to help family members meet their goals. Work with children, youth, and families as a partner toward successful accomplishment of goals developed by the family to move them toward their version of success. Understand and leverage community-based supports and services for the family.
The Community-Based Specialist will provide the therapeutic strategies needed to eliminate the crisis that is creating the unstable environment. Provide home visits that are flexible to the families' schedule three to five times per week during the intervention with a total service time of 10 - 12 hours in the home weekly. Conduct an assessment that includes family members' values, strengths, skills, problems, needs, barriers, and readiness for change. Conduct in-home visits and develop plans to guide program activities and interventions, as set goals with the client.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage, and family therapy, or related human service field or a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related human service field with at least 2 years of direct social service experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Two years of direct social service experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and know or have the ability to quickly learn any database system. Must be able to pass standard background checks, including: drug screen, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offender Registries. Have a belief system and engages in faith practices that are compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.
