Hospital Sitter/Nurse Technician
Job description
Position Overview:
Provide safe, efficient and therapeutic patient care for patients who need a sitter while in the hospital, which includes constant observation, while under direction of Licensed Nurse and Medical Staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One (1) year experience as a Nurse Tech in an acute care setting or skilled nursing facility
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Preferred
Qualifications:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain constant observation of the patient to ensure patient safety.
- Provide patient care within scope of practice, promptly meeting patient’s needs.
- Redirect patient as needed and as appropriate.
- Report changes in condition or other issues to primary care nurse promptly.
- When patient ambulatory, remain with the patient and use a gait belt as applicable.
- When patient in the bathroom, remain nearby to monitor safety, unless instructed otherwise by primary care nurse.
- When sitting with a patient who is suicidal:
a. Maintain constant visual observation, including when patient in the bathroom or family members are present.
b. Ensure the patient does not have items that could cause harm (e.g. butter knife, glass,etc)
- Maintain a neat and calm environment for the patient’s comfort.
- Document activities in an accurate and timely manner to ensure quality patient care.
- When performing in the Nurse Tech role the incumbent:
a. Performs daily tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the unit and maintain patient comfort.
b. Answers call lights, bells, or intercom system to determine patients' needs.
c. Bathes, dresses, and undress patients.
d. Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.
e. Transports patients or assists patients to walk.
f. Drapes patients for examinations and treatments, and remains with patients to perform such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights.
g. Turns and repositions patients, alone or with assistance, to prevent skin breakdown.
h. Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephone.
i. Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
j. Dusts and cleans patients' rooms.
k. Supports the operation of the unit by maintaining supplies and equipment necessary for patient care. Monitors stock levels, restocks as necessary, and removes unsafe or damaged equipment from use. Cleans and stores supplies.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.64 - $23.35 per hour

- Ventura, CA 93003: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Nurse Tech in an acute care setting/skilled nursing facility: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Required)
- CNA (Preferred)
