We are Sierra Blue Ventures, and we are looking for an Area General Manager to manage properties in beautiful Big Bear Lake and Wrightwood, California.

The Area General Manager will fill a key leadership role in hospitality management services. You will skillfully oversee the overall operation of hotels to achieve planned goals for operational integrity as measured by revenue, house profit, and RevPAR index while maintaining company standards for quality assurance, asset protection, associate satisfaction, and exceeding guest expectations. You will also establish priorities and lead key operational initiatives such as the sales plan and budget development and execution of physical property improvement projects. As the leader, you are there to inspire and educate, build and attract top talent, and motivate the teams to have a collaborative working environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of stable and progressive experience in hotel management.
  • Hospitality/Tourism degree preferred.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • History of opening hotels/previous hotel pre-opening experience is preferred.
  • Exceptional skills in guest satisfaction.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Results-driven, energetic, and focused.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must work well in stressful high pressure situations.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be a caring leader that builds trust and engagement by cultivating genuine relationships.
  • Must be effective in handling issues in the workplace including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.

  • Flexible to work some nights and weekends when necessary based on business and staffing needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Comply with and ensure adherence to hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Comply with certification requirements as applicable, including but not limited to: Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts.
  • Manages all sources of revenue, including the rooms, housekeeping, food and beverage, engineering, and other departments. Ensures all departments are profitable and safe, and maintains strong working relationships.
  • Create the hotel's annual and monthly budget. Monitors the performance of the hotel throughout the year.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
  • Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers and available supervisors.
  • Forecast monthly the hotel's financial position by estimating revenues and line-by-line expenses.
  • Ensure that all departments maintain budgeted productivity levels.
  • Tour the operating departments daily and make systematic adjustments as needed.
  • Actively leads operational discussions, meetings, and plans.
  • Inspect rooms regularly.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensure that employees are at all times attentive friendly courteous and efficient in their interactions with guests managers and all other employees.
  • Manage the hotel through a hands-on approach, ensuring employee development and retention, and conducting regular employee meetings.
  • Develop managers for future advancement.
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as necessary.
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment which focuses on the guest through employee development and motivation.
  • Prepare and conduct all management interviews. Ensure that all managers are in compliance with the standards in their interviewing and hiring procedures for departmental staff.
  • Interview all prospective final candidates for any vacant position within the hotel prior to any offer being extended.
  • Perform all department manager performance evaluations and ensure that managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of performance evaluations to their staff.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline all management personnel and ensure that managers are in compliance with the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with all staff.
  • Be in the public areas during peak times greeting guests and offering assistance as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
