Preferred Qualifications :
Demonstrated data management experience using SAS, Excel and/or Access. Demonstrated experience with MS Office suite (PowerPoint, Word). Completion of or enrollment in one or more of the following courses or closely related courses.

Responsibilities :
The Project Assistant II will assist in both programmatic and data management activities related to the MSS CORE Study and the investigator-initiated projects described below. Namely, the incumbent will assist with developing and reviewing educational and outreach materials for community engagement efforts. The incumbent will assist with recruitment activities for the CORE study and the additional investigator-initiated projects, including assisting with maintaining a recruitment tracking database and reviewing recruitment materials. For the NDBS project, the incumbent will assist project staff with recruitment and enrollment activities, questionnaire administration, and management of data collection elements using an Access database. The incumbent will assist in monitoring the completion and quality of questionnaire data using Qualtrics survey software and will perform data checking and cleaning with SAS or R as assigned. The incumbent will also assist with preparing results mailings, filing and managing consent documents and will assist with medical and school record abstractions, and will assist to perform other duties as assigned.
The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the University at Albany's School of Public Health (UAlbany SPH) are collaborating on a five-year health study of exposure to drinking water contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) titled,"Multi-Site Study of the Health Implications of Exposure to PFAS Contaminated Drinking Water"(MSS). This study is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC's) Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry (ATSDR). As one of seven sites nationally selected for funding, New York's study will include ~1000 adult and 300 child participants from the Hoosick Falls and Newburgh areas. The MSS is the first national study to look at exposure to multiple PFAS at multiple sites; the goal of the study is to better understand the relationship between PFAS exposure and health outcomes (such as immune response, lipid metabolism, kidney function, thyroid disease, liver disease, glycemic parameters, and diabetes) in differing populations. In addition to completing the MSS CORE research activities as prescribed, the NY-site will also be conducting additional investigator-initiated research projects that: 1) are responsive to the community, 2) serve to enhance the CORE and, 3) inform future PFAS related hypotheses generalizable to other communities and study sites.
This position will be 53.33% FTE (20 hours/week) and may increase to 100% FTE (37.5 hours/week) for up to three months.
Conditions of Employment :
Hourly, grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
