The Benefits Coordinator will provide agency-wide generalist employee services including administration of Human Resource policies and procedures, employee benefit plans, record keeping and HRIS maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business, human resources, or related field preferred
  • 2 years of human resources or employee benefit administration experience
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally and with discretion
  • Strong customer (employee) focus and exceptional interpersonal skills to meet internal/external customer needs
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with an ownership mindset to drive results.
  • Experience with HRIS and benefits databases
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite as well as the ability to learn new computer applications
  • Knowledge of all basic office equipment required
  • A positive, proactive attitude which the ability to be comfortable with change.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work with a multicultural client/customer population
  • Ability to work in a non-judgmental manner and foster positive outcomes
  • Able to work as part of a team and maintain professional boundaries
  • Must pass a criminal background check (Live Scan fingerprinting) prior to beginning employment

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for processing daily benefits requests. Handle new benefit enrollments, qualifying life events, terminations/COBRA, Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts, disability, accident and death claims, life insurance enrollment, and 401(k) updates.
  • Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files, maintain group benefits database (HRIS) and update employee payroll deductions.
  • Serve as contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators. Coordinate transfer of HRIS data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Provide new employees with an explanation of benefits and instruct them on enrollment and fulfillment procedures.
  • Consult with and provide support to employees about eligibility, dependent verification, and overall company benefits while adhering to our policies.
  • Coordinate and assist on annual open enrollment to include employee meetings, HRIS setup, and communication.
  • Update 401(k) employee contributions and loan deductions in HRIS/payroll system.
  • Assist with annual compliance such as Non-Discrimination Testing, Audits, ACA and other requirements
  • Complete monthly billing reconciliation of benefit-related invoices
  • Responsible for processing and tracking Worker’s Compensation claims
  • Coordinate leaves of absence such as FMLA, CFRA, PDL, Workers' Comp, Military Leaves, etc., for JFSLA employees
  • Process and track all Worker’s compensation claims. Primary contact for employees on all worker’s compensation claims
  • Provide leave of absence consultation, answer questions regarding entitlements and provide information regarding available benefits
  • Processes verification of employment requests
  • Handles highly confidential material in a discrete manner; insures legal and regulatory agency requirements are met; assists with materials and matters in support of Collective Bargaining Agreement administration and negotiations
  • Partners with HR and Accounting teams as required
  • Other related duties, as assigned
