The role will lead and partner on a variety of UK wide people initiatives whilst also providing focused HR business partnering to our manufacturing site in London. It is therefore well suited to candidates from the London area
What will this role achieve?
Reporting to the UK&I Head of HR Supply Chain the purpose of the role is:
- To provide strategic HR leadership and business partnering across UK Supply Chain as required, ensuring all HR activity is making valuable contributions in line with UK Supply Chain strategic and operational priorities.
- Provide HR business partnering support to aligned site(s), working with the site leadership team(s) whilst influencing and facilitating the creation and implementation of the site people plan
- To work collectively as part of a team of Supply Chain HR Business partners for the region, assuming responsibility for leading a variety of UK supply chain people plan initiatives and projects, as assigned within the team
What will be your key deliverables?
- Support the Head of Supply Chain HR in establishing people plan as part of the SC Strategy, attend planning sessions, work with designated SC Exec members to shape specific plans, including site people plans as per alignment to sites
- Business Partnering with Site leadership teams across Supply Chain UK sites on key initiatives required to drive site wide improvements, such as development of an engagement plan or an absence transformation plan. In establishing the plan, undertakes diagnostic review, facilitates required actions and ensures accountability for delivery sits with the site team, with agreed review processes in place.
- Ensures alignment with other parts of the business and across relevant HR functions (other SC HRBPs or Employee Relations team for example) on read across and wider implications of local site wide initiatives or decisions
- Talent and Performance Cycle - Own the talent/performance agenda for aligned site(s). Where required as HRBP lead for UK SC, coordinate implementation of this agenda through wider SC HRBP team. Ensure calendar driven events for calibration / talent are completed, including quarterly talent reviews with site leadership teams to keep the process live during the year.
- Provide link with global teams and centres of excellence, ensuring timely engagement and cascade of any new initiatives or required policy changes.
- Learning & Development Agenda Management in Supply Chain – Working with the UK&I L&D function, leverage the UK&I L&D offering for aligned site(s) including maximising take up of leadership development programmes. Assume lead HRBP role on L&D based SC people priorities, as required.
Employee Relations
- (D&G, Absence) - Monitor M.I from ER team to ensure proactive intervention if trends symptomatic of wider ER issues
- Managing ET claims - Awareness via ER team reporting.
- Settlement Agreements – As required coordinate the process, including business sign off, preparation with business leader, conclusion of process and implementation of agreement
- Ensure awareness of potential whistleblowing cases and jointly review with ER Team to identify site contact to take case forward.
- Oversee health check readiness of sites ahead of major ethical audits. Ensure awareness of improvement plans with wider implications, influencing wider business where changes needed to comply
Working with Trade Unions
- Annual Pay Negotiations: Lead on specific negotiations as required and ensuring consistency by working collectively with SCHR team, including creation of negotiation plans and sign off, attend negotiation with Supply Chain Leaders, and ensure implementation of agreed changes.
- Situational - where there is a key site issue requiring support, support site Leadership teams with resolution
- UK Consultation Forum - play supporting role, leading on people workstreams arising from forums
Change Projects – Early involvement and oversight of the people elements of Supply Chain change projects, from ways of working initiatives, departmental changes, larger scale change projects and restructures. Ensure early identification of HR resource needs within project planning.
Proactively network with internal / external partners to bring best practice thinking to the team maximising opportunities for developing external partnerships and knowledge sharing.
Build and maintain relations with key partners across the wider pladis business to ensure that the approach remains aligned with the global agenda.
Work closely with L&D and other partners I.e. OHW, Recruitment and Comms, to ensure alignment and engagement across the people agenda for Supply Chain
Be an active participant with the Supply Chain Exec – through providing key updates on specific UK supply chain people plan initiatives, site people plan progress.
Essential
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence and empower a variety of stakeholders across the remit of Supply Chain people agenda.
- Previous experience of working in a HR Operational role and associated understanding of interconnections / drivers of Employee Engagement / Employee Life Cycle.
- Experience of devising and leading initiatives / solutions to ensure the Supply Chain model continues to evolve in line with internal /external operating requirements.
- Experience of working in “Lead” role with Trade Unions through pay negotiations, change management (site wide change on T+C’s, shift patterns, structures). Experience and a good understanding of employee relations
- Passion and drive to motivate and engage colleagues to make a real difference to the business
- Builds respected, trusted and supportive relationships with key stakeholders
- Well-developed planning, project management and Organisational Skills, with the ability to work flexibly to ensure the efficient and successful delivery of the annual Supply Chain People plan.
- A personal desire to continuously learn and develop to ensure new practices and thinking are understood and adopted.
- Able to demonstrate sound interpretation, understanding and application of employment law, case law and associated standard processes
- Experience of problem solving, prioritisation and decision making in pressurised /time critical environments.
- Experience of building respect, trust and supportive relationships with key partners
Desirable
- CIPD Level 7 or equivalent
- Specific Employee Relations Qualification
- Trade Union Negotiation skills i.e GAP Negotiator course or equivalent.
