The Employee Relations Specialist is a consultative role providing advice, guidance and coaching to different levels of management on policy, performance and employee relations issues. They will align to the HR Talent Partner team for ReedGroup and the centralized HR ER team, partnering closely with internal stakeholders / clients, including ReedGroup Leadership, HR Talent Partners, Employment Law, and HR Operations teams.

You understand and balance the needs of the business, while ensuring practical, consistent application of HR policies and practices. You operate with a high level of integrity (do what is right) and can gain the trust of multiple stakeholders and interact successfully with all levels within the organization. You step up in conflict and find common ground while valuing inclusion and different perspectives.

You have
  • 3-5 years of experience in HR related function and ER experience required.
  • Exemplary active listening and other verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience preparing written reports and summaries of findings with supporting documentation that is fair, impartial, and represents the facts, and analyzing investigative results.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
  • Strong conflict resolution, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience dealing with employment law principles and practices and conducting ER investigations and witness interviews.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no direction.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and provide consultative services to all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to assimilate needs and formulate solutions that align with the business direction and our people strategy.
  • Ability to effectively manage high volume workload and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills.

You will
  • Give guidance, coaching and consultation on day-to-day people management matters, workplace disputes and identify solutions to ensure risk mitigation, and consistent application of policies and practices.
  • Conduct investigations in response to internal complaints. Advise managers on disciplinary issues including misconduct, policy violations, corrective actions, and termination. Review involuntary terminations and disciplinary decisions for fairness, consistency, and potential legal liability.
  • Provide guidance and apply interventions to resolve employee disagreements, conflicts, or misunderstandings.
  • Partner with business leaders to prepare performance and/or attendance counseling and formal counseling documentation.
  • Implement separation process including notification, offboarding through resolution.
  • Investigate and resolve ER issues, to include gathering and analyzing evidence, applying relevant laws, policies, and past practice to reach conclusions.
  • Maintain required documentation, including intake and investigative notes, supporting documents and final reports.
  • Engage in an interactive process with colleagues and managers to review workplace accommodation requests.

Location
  • The primary location for this position is remote, with an "at home" work arrangement.
