AEL-Span/Walker SCM is looking for an experienced HR Generalist for our operation in Louisville, Kentucky. We are looking for the right person who shares our philosophy of Operational Excellence on a daily basis. AEL-SPAN’s primary objective is to deliver the right part, to the right place, at the right time.

Summary of Position:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties at our Louisville, KY site. This position is responsible for the day-to-day Human Resources support to the Warehouse Operations. This position is responsible for Human Resources activities, including: staffing and recruiting, onboarding, team member relations, employment law and regulatory compliance, performance management, policy dissemination, managing temporary staffing and agencies, workers' compensation claims. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Local GM and the Corporate Human Resources Director. A minimum of 3-5 years in an HR role is required.

Core Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct and/or facilitate new hire orientation and a positive on-boarding experience.
  • Liaise with operational leadership and staffing agencies to ensure optimal staffing levels are achieved, and to communicate any issues or concerns with contracted staff
  • Monitor eligibility requirements and advise when staffing agency team members will be eligible for onboarding
  • Provide support and guidance to site management with their investigation, documentation and resolution of team member complaints or concerns, team member relations issues and/or disciplinary matters, maintaining an appropriate balance between team member and corporate advocacy
  • Participate in new customer launch meetings
  • Adhere to HIPAA, as well as all federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Support the management team in coaching and counseling team members to enhance performance results
  • Run compensations reports (e.g., PayScale) when necessary
  • Provide team members with benefits broker contacts, including available concierge service to assist with benefit inquires
  • Support training initiatives, including evaluating program options and assist with implementation
  • Collaborate with site management and Corporate HR to provide guidance with investigation, proper documentation, and assist management with resolving team member complaints or concerns, team member relations issues and/or disciplinary matters, maintaining an appropriate balance between team member and corporate advocacy.
  • Administer exit interviews, monitor findings, evaluate root problems, recommend changes, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Ensure accurate completion of KPI data
  • Process terminations through coordination with Corporate HR
  • Interpret and monitor organizational policies, programs and procedures in the areas of employee engagement and compliance to attract, retain, and motivate employees as directed
  • Participate in new customer launch meetings
  • Respect, promote and ensure the confidentiality of sensitive information

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bi-Lingual Spanish (Required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
  • Assist with translation of company communications, as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Well-versed in employment-related laws and regulations
  • Ability to maintain confidential information with the highest degree of integrity
  • Skilled in multitasking, organizing and prioritizing work

Education / Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant work experience in the HR field (Required)
  • Bachelor's (Preferred)
  • US work authorization (Required)
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite, especially strong Excel and Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
