Position Overview:The Town of Vail is now hiring a Human Resources Generalist/Business Partner (HRBP) to join the Town of Vail team!

Senior Human Resource Generalist/Business Partner (Salary Range: $80,473 - $112,662)

The HR Generalist/Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning Town organizational plans, values and culture with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function and organization to deliver core HR service to management and employees that reflects the objectives of the organization. The Human Resources Generalist performs professional, administrative, strategic, and planning duties. The HR Generalist will recruit, train and on-board, and guide employees through benefits & compensation, represent both the employee and the organization, assist with employee relations matters, performance management. The HRBP will be a systems optimizer, a keeper of the culture, a talent ambassador, and recruiter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities* include but are not limited to:

Partner with HR team and leadership to develop and implement effective HR policies and practices that will support optimal organizational performance.
- Provide timely information and/or education for all levels of the organization on HR issues and makes recommendations on improvements for policies, processes and practices. Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to employees and managers.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Coordinates and resolves employee relations issues. Receives, investigates/reviews and resolves employee and manager concerns/complaints (including: discrimination, harassment, violence, etc.). Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations, conferring with HR leadership in formal responses.
- Functions as the full-cycle talent management resource for the assigned departments, including but not limited to recruitment strategy, applicant experience, new employee onboarding, job description accuracy/updates, retention, and employee satisfaction.
- Responsible for driving all aspects of the recruiting process including developing and executing on strong proactive recruiting strategy, encouraging diversity, and driving our employee brand in the talent marketplace.
- Maintains HR systems for related business units and ensures employee records are accurate and timely (NWS, Novatime, 3rd party enrollments, etc.) Runs reports routinely or as necessary to analyze data for ongoing issues, projects or functions.
- Provides day-to-day guidance and HR expertise for supervisors and managers in compliant and best practices for hiring, employee communication, employee performance/development, etc.
- Participate in the continual development of HR programs, such as recruiting retention, compensation, benefits, and Learning & Development.
- Collaborate with the HR team to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results.
- Educate team members on the Town of Vail’s employment and compensation practices, including compensation, performance feedback, performance calibration, and career transitions.
- Collaborates with HR team for benefit program administration and serves as the point person for assigned business units for related education, enrollment and general employee benefit resources.
- Coordinates the administration of policy and leave programs such as: Disability, workers compensation, ADA, family & medical leave, etc.
- Ensures compliance with local, state and federal laws related to program administration in key functional areas; ensures current regulations and reporting requirements are understood and complied with; and, prepares, analyzes and acts on recommendations for change.

Qualified applicants must have:

Solid knowledge of accepted Human Resources standards and procedures including analyzing regulatory requirements and case interpretation as applicable to all functional areas of human resources.
- Solid understanding in employment law compliance (FLSA, ADEA, EEO, ADA, FMLA etc.), employee investigations, and regulatory reporting.
- Effective knowledge and skill in using analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively handle employee relation and interpersonal issues.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in person, on the phone, or via email.
- Ability to communicate with different audiences in a simple, clear and concise manner; record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Expertise in building and maintaining relationships with co-workers, staff, and vendors and consultants.
- Skilled in working together with others through idea-sharing and collaboration to accomplish a common goal.
- Ability to work under pressure and with strict deadlines.
- Ability to handle and resolve confidential and sensitive issues, use discretion and independent judgment, and exhibit these traits appropriately in communication and handling/disseminating information.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business administration or closely related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional level Human Resources experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Human Resources certification and/or public sector experience is a plus.
