The Department of Surgery, Division of GI, Trauma, and Endocrine Surgery (GITES) & Surgical Oncology has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Human Resources & Operations Professional (Open Rank: Entry-Senior) position.

Entry Professional

Senior Professional
Senior Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying, and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. Work is performed fully independently.
Position Summary:
This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position will be responsible for supporting the human resources needs and functions of the Department of Surgery and its 2 divisions including GITES & Surgical Oncology. Under the supervision of the Division Administrative Director and the Executive Support Manager, this HR Specialist will work collaboratively with the Director of HR & Faculty Affairs and their team. This position will work closely with the Surgery HR Specialist team to provide them with accurate and complete information when requesting positions, hires and transactions. This position will also manage the time collection process for Faculty in the divisions. In addition, this this position will oversee operational duties including managing Amion, QGenda. Lastly, this position will be the first point of contact in the divisions for onboarding of both faculty and staff employees, being responsible for the division side of onboarding responsibilities.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Manage the request of positions, hires, credentialing and HR transactions to the Surgery HR team.
- Manages the re-credentialing process for faculty in the divisions
- Requests volunteer clinical faculty, adjoint, adjunct, and post doc appointments to the Surgery HR team
- Responsible for requesting faculty and staff terminations to the Surgery HR Team.
- Responsible for maintaining faculty and staff files.
- Responsible for funding distribution changes.
- Provide Human Resources guidance to various divisions.
- Assist with procurement, reimbursement and purchases as needed
- Assist with acquisition of Speedtypes and maintaining updates
- Manage Divisions’ on-call scheduling, faculty time off/leave and Divisions’ HR policy compliance
- Performs duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
Entry Level
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
Intermediate Level
- A bachelor’s degree in business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- At least one year (1) of professional experience working in Human Resources
Senior Professional
- A bachelor’s degree in business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- At least two years (2) of professional experience working in Human Resources
Substitution (all levels): A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Related experience working in an academic medical center
- Experience hiring and credentialing faculty
Competencies:
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.
- Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality while working with sensitive information.

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at
Senior Professional: $57,428 - $73,049.
Intermediate Professional: $53,121 - $67,570.
Entry Professional: $48,814 - $62,092.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
