Job Summary
The Human Resources Specialist – Compensation & Benefits is the church’s primary source for executing the compensation and benefit strategy as well as being the initial contact for ministries engaging with individual independent contractors. As a member of the Human Resources Team, implements strategies for benefits and compensation and culture and development.

Position-Specific
· Researches appropriate compensation levels, including the annual participation in the MegaChurch Compensation Survey.
· Maintains the church’s compensation structure. Through analysis, makes recommendations for new and existing positions.
· Works with church’s brokers to research and identify employee benefit plans that align with the church’s strategy. Examines both plan designs and costs.
· Manages employee enrollments through HRIS, coordinating the transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums, and plan administration.
· Responds to daily benefits questions and processing such as changes in benefit status and claims issues.
· Works with ministries engaging with individual independent contractors to ensure compliance and consistency across the organization.
· Assists in onboarding and offboarding temporary staff.
· Coordinates with the Great Plain Annual Conference on the administration of clergy compensation and benefits.
· Tracks trends, developments and best practices in compensation and benefits administration.
· Forecasts staffing budget for upcoming year with continual review and updates throughout the year. Works with departmental and campuses on developing annual staffing budgets.
· Coordinates benefit continuation administration such as COBRA and State Continuation.
· Manages Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Worker’s Compensation.
· Maintains benefit related information on the HRIS.
· Serves as a back-up for processing payroll.
· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
· 5 years job-related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience including Human Resources certification through HRCI or SHRM or a college degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
· Proven Results in analyzing and implementing compensation and benefits strategies; administering online systems; assisting in budgeting processes; and developing quality relationships.
