State Title: Personnel Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB GOAL:

To sustain and support the human resource functions of the District.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or approved equivalent required.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a related field.
  • School district experience preferred.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of human resources methods and their application to the qualification process. Knowledge and ability to analyze a complex computer system and the information produced. Ability to work with district administration, principals and other school administrators in a customer focused and efficient manner to present information and analyze complex matters. Ability to effectively respond to questions on human resources issues. Knowledge of Enterprise Resource (ERP) and Talent Management Systems.

SUPERVISES:

PERSONNEL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in completing the hiring process of new, prospective, and existing classified, instructional and administrative personnel by providing information, assisting with HR reception area computers, fingerprinting, maintaining fingerprints and operating the front desk.
  • Administer pre-employment screening tests and forward results.
  • Verify applicant employment history and prepare documents for same for the district.
  • Check drug test results and notify applicants if needed.
  • Assist in resolving human resource problems for central staff administrators, school administrators, district staff, and applicants.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the HR Representative and Specialist. Input data into existing databases as needed.
  • Advise and assist persons who are qualifying for positions.
  • Create and maintain files and records for the human resources department.
  • Create and maintain personnel files as well as current records for part-time employees, coaches, and non-faculty.
  • Perform data entry as required for personnel transactions.
  • Communicate with management, employees, applicants and the public, both orally and in writing and at all levels as needed.
  • Follow federal and state laws as well as Board policies, rules and regulations.
  • Consult and assist with school administrators in handling personnel matters pertinent to employees, including reappointment, potential problems, and unusual events.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Attend training sessions to stay abreast of current practices, upgrades, or new software or other programs used in the human resources office.
  • Perform related duties, as required.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.


EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
