If so, then Kalamazoo Valley Community College may have the ideal opportunity for you.

Kalamazoo Valley is seeking an experienced HVAC instructor to fill a full-time, tenure-track position. Individuals should be familiar with a variety of instructional strategies and have an understanding of the community college philosophy. In addition, candidates should possess experience with curriculum development and a willingness to collaborate across divisions.

Applications are invited from interested candidates who value and engage in high-quality, student-centered instruction. Duties will include teaching a variety of lecture and lab courses in the HVAC Program, assisting in developing curriculum, and participating in and leading departmental and college activities that support initiatives related to enrollment management, retention, student engagement, and student success. Teaching assignments include a variety of day and evening courses. The position also includes opportunities for curriculum development, educational assessments, retention, enrollment management, student engagement, student success, and professional growth and enrichment. Successful candidates will demonstrate a willingness to embrace teamwork as they develop or redesign courses to meet student, transfer and workforce needs.

Current course focus and needs are on commercial HVAC and industrial automation, and supporting KVCC’s growth into renewable energy systems.

This position is anticipated to start Fall of 2023 semester and is contingent upon final Board approval and funding.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in HVAC technology or field directly related to HVAC required.
At least 2 years of qualified work experience is required.

Please note, degree must be conferred by the date of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in HVAC technology is preferred.
At least 5 years of qualified work experience is preferred.
Prior teaching experience is preferred.
Manufacturer specific training is preferred.
Prior post-secondary/community college teaching experience is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work and collaborate with community college students, faculty, staff and community is preferred.
Experience with apprenticeships is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to change and adapt to the evolving electrical field is preferred.
Experience with curriculum and/or program development is preferred.
Candidates will be encouraged to obtain a minimum of a B.A. or B.S. degree before completion of the 4-year tenure process.
