SUMMARY: The Commissioning Technician is responsible for performing commissioning activities for multiple commissioning projects such as performing site visits and equipment testing, managing deficiency logs, and reviewing design documents and construction submittals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned in conformance with state and federal regulations.

Core functions:

· Possesses the knowledge of engineering and automated control principles.

· Maintains expertise in Mechanical Disciplines and is comfortable working with a variety of HVAC systems and refrigeration systems.

· Performs site observation surveys and develops field reports documenting findings while reconciling findings with the construction document requirements.

· Reviews shop drawings and submittals.

· Attends progress meetings throughout construction period.

· Executes pre-functional and functional test procedures.

· Ability to correctly use measurement and test equipment.

· Prepares and manages deficiency log outlining issues observed during testing with corrective measure.

· Performs warranty period surveys and interviews building operations staff.

In addition, you will:

· Enhance professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

· Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying new and existing legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on necessary action.

· Protect operations by keeping company information confidential.

· Deliver outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients needs.

· Demonstrate BV’s guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals.

· Follow all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV's quality standards and strategic initiatives.

· Maintain safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations.

· May be required to work overtime.

· Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

· Possess the ability to use and skillfully operate a computer is essential to this position.

· Possess the ability to use and skillfully operate an electronic tablet efficiently in the field for live data collection is essential to this position.

· Successfully work from remote location.

· Climb ladders (including vertical ladders up multiple stories) and/or steep attached stairs to a roof (for each building assessed, at least once per on-site assessment)

· Have the ability to travel, on average, approximately 75% - 90% of time to client sites across the U.S. via plane and driving as determined based on the project location. Common patterns of travel include one day on-site followed by one day at home. The time at home is spent writing reports that communicate the field findings.Overnight stays away from home may be required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervisory responsibilities are commensurate with individual experience and employer needs.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:

· 5+ years of experience in the installation or servicing of HVAC system and/or Refrigeration systems.

· Must have knowledge base of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical fundamental principles.

· Possesses experience in one or more of the following: Facility Design, Building Commissioning, Temperature Controls Installation and Programming, Building System Maintenance and Repair, HVAC System Installation.

· Proficient Technical writing skills are essential.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

· EPA 608 Type I certification preferred.

· Valid driver's license is required.

Other Qualifications

· Personal credit sufficient to charge business travel expenses of up to $3,000 required.

· Must have a clean driving record.

  • Must have a cell phone and supply your own internet service.

· Must be able to work from a remote location.

· Must be willing to fly and live near (or be willing to relocate to) a major metropolitan area with reasonable access to a major airport.

· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with BV employees and customers.

· Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications with a strong emphasis in MS Excel

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent time management skills including ability to perform multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and ability to work independently.

· Excellent computer skills.
