PURPOSE:

Procures various goods and services (commodities) to serve the immediate, short-, medium-, and long-term needs and requirements of the company internal customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports the activities of the procurement process chain, including strategy and internal customers at the respective interfaces.
• Organizes activities in accordance with existing Plant and group regulations and rules.
• Uses international group contracts and purchasing tools and networks to achieve best working results.
• Gathers information from the technical departments to assist with the determination of the specific requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications and/or scope of work, potential suppliers, timelines and others.
• Obtains input from legal, financial, and other departments to ensure that all contractual and commercial issues of the potential contract are managed.
• Solicits and evaluates within its responsibilities, bids and quotations from suppliers for the requested commodity and recommends pricing to ensure the best cost-performance ratio.
• Uses appropriately existing group supplier databases and supplier evaluation and development processes and systems.
• Implements purchase contracts by using existing procurement systems that comply with company regulations.
• Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles
• and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
• Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Group Operations Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 
  BA/BS degree (preferably in Business Administration) or the equivalent of 4 years of experience as a buyer.
• 6+ months of experience in material/supply/logistics planning.
• 6+ months of experience as a consumables and/or capital investment buyer for a manufacturing company in the automotive industry (preferred).
• 6+ months of project management experience.
• 6+ months of experience negotiating product, price, delivery, and payment terms (preferred).

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• 1+ years of strong written communication skills with strong analytical abilities.
• 1+ years of ability to successfully multi-task.
• Basic knowledge of procurement systems (i.e. Portal M,SAP, etc.).
• Basic SAP skills.
• Basic customer service skills.
• Basic problem-solving skills.
• Basic knowledge of working in multi-cultural teams (preferred).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• 
  Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

• Location: Greer, SC
• Core Hours: 40 hours per week
• Weekly Overtime: As needed.
• Weekend Work: As needed.
• Assignment Start: ASAP
