Job Description:
This position is part of a classification study. The study may result in a change to the current job profile and salary in Spring 2023.

We are hiring a Desktop Support Specialist (Information Technology Specialist 3) to join the Enterprise Technology Services Division (ETSD) in the
Office of the State Court Administrator

Position Highlights:
Your role will be to work with customers in the Office of the State Court Administrator, Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Tax Court, circuit courts across the state, and the Office of Public Defense Services. You are expected to handle level 2 and level 3 Desktop assignments with attention to detail. This includes triage, phone support, troubleshooting and routing ticket(s) to the next level as appropriate. You will be the next level of escalation on the Desktop if level 1/2 help desk is not able to resolve or triage an issue. You will use the internal system for data entry, problem assignment, problem tracking, problem resolution and problem documentation.
You will respond to requests for software and hardware support of OJD systems and applications. This includes answering questions which may be referred by other IT staff, monitoring system performance, conducting complex troubleshooting to determine the scope and nature of requests, perform disaster recovery, transferring problems for resolution as appropriate and initiating trouble tickets with vendors on defective hardware and software. You will also provide user assistance and training relating to system software and hardware, monitor hardware and software in all court locations and be proactive in notifying courts and other customers of necessary maintenance actions.
You will report on hardware, software, support methodologies, and provide recommendations for standards and lifecycle replacement. Similarly, you will develop and execute upgrade plans for operating systems, hardware items and software packages. You will be expected to identify and recommend areas where office automation system policies, processes, standards, and procedures require change, or where new documentation needs to be developed.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified applicant must have two (2) years of responsible, technical experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills and abilities requirements listed for the position.
AND
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in management, business or public administration, computer science, IT, or a closely related field.
OR
Any combination of
education and experience equal
to five (5) years of experience that support the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

You must have a current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record or be able to provide an acceptable alternate means of transportation.
Requested Skills and Attributes. Preference will be given to applicants that have experience in the following areas:

  • Experience in working with a wide variety of computer applications and processes (e.g. Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Microsoft Teams, For the Record, and Apple IOS).
  • Experience in PC support and maintenance.
  • Experience in printer and copier maintenance.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience in basic PowerShell.
  • Experience in PDQ Deploy and Inventory.
  • Experience in basic understanding of Project Management.
  • Experience in providing IT support services to a variety of skill levels for end-users across multiple locations.
  • Experience in communicating and presenting information clearly and logically, orally and in writing.
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining group policy objects (GPO).
  • Experience in explaining technical issues in plain language.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining working relationships with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Background demonstrating capacity to manage simple projects from start to finish.
  • Strong customer service skills in person, by phone, by email and over chat.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position. The work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked more than 40 per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours, night, and weekend work.
  • Occasional inter- and intra-state travel which may include overnight stays.
  • Occasional travel to court locations throughout the state (with occasional overnight stays).
  • Frequent email, phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Often involves email, in-person and phone contact with confused or frustrated people.
  • The following equipment will be used on a regular basis: telephone with optional headset, personal computer with screen monitor, and computer peripheral equipment.
  • Lifting and moving computer equipment or other office equipment weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
  • Using a hand truck and climbing ladders is required.
