Background:

Position open for in-plant ink technician to work in the International Paper Thorofare, New Jersey Retail facility. This position will be in the Specialty Products Ink division, reporting to the Manufacturing Manager. The Specialty Products division provides printing inks, printing plates, and related services to flexographic packaging printers, both within International Paper and to outside customers. The in-plant ink technician will provide on-site ink manufacturing and technical service for the Thorofare Retail facility.


Key Functions:

The in-plant ink technician’s function is to perform all technical, manufacturing, and reporting tasks pertaining to ink and printing as required by the facility. The in-plant also assists the customer with press related issues, maximizing efficiencies related to ink usage or press set up, cost reduction measures, or other issues as the customer requires. Specific key functions are: Color matching and re-matching, blending ink batches for print jobs, press side technical assistance (toning colors, adjusting ink to improve print quality, drying speed, etc.), maintaining customer ink inventory, re-working old ink, filing ink usage reports and other reports as necessary, attend production meetings and other customer meetings as required, any other technical issues needed by customer, such as ink training, ink improvements, cost reductions, etc.


Requirements:

High School education (or equivalent) required. 2.-3 years industry experience preferred. Candidates will have excellent press side technical and trouble shooting skills, color matching ability, be detail oriented and have strong communication skills. Since heavy customer contact is required, the ability to communicate effectively and in a pleasant manner is essential. Excellent computer skills are desirable. Positive attitude, willingness to take on special projects, and initiative.
