JOB SUMMARY:

The inpatient therapy technician assists inpatient clinical staff with meeting Ranken Jordan's Care Beyond the Bedside model of patient care and programming through:

  • patient transport within the hospital
  • supervised and directed assistance with patient therapy sessions and group programming
  • participation in daily administrative, organization and cleaning tasks related to patient therapy and programming.

Shift requirements: Operation hours are 8:30am-6pm on weekdays and 8:30am-3pm on weekends

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
:

Cleaning & Organization (40%)

  • Ensures a safe environment for patients and staff by completing general cleaning and organizing of equipment and toys in therapy and patient programming spaces
  • Assists in set-up and clean-up of supplies for therapy or patient programming
  • Assists in ordering and maintenance of departmental equipment, toys and supplies
  • Routinely sweeps treatment and programming spaces to ensure materials and supplies are in stock and correctly stored

Patient Assistance (25%)

  • Obtains equipment and supplies and assists in their use during patient sessions and programs with direction from a therapist. Session support will be in the aquatic environment at times.
  • Provides hands-on assistance with patients during therapy sessions as directed by a therapist.
  • Assists with patient caregiving to ensure patient cleanliness, comfort and safety
  • Protects patients and employees by adherence to infection control practices and policies

Patient Transport (20%)

  • Assists in transferring patients out of bed and into mobility devices, as needed, for transport to therapy and group programming throughout the hospital
  • Maintains safe transport by monitoring patient, lines and tubes before, during and after transport from one location to another
  • Communicates with patients' primary care team members to complete patient hand-off communication before and after transport
  • Utilizes Ranken Jordan's emergency response procedures in the event of an emergent patient need during transport

Administrative (10%)

  • Assist with administrative tasks including fax, file, copy, print.
  • Assists in creating, organizing and breaking-down patient soft-charts as directed by the Therapy Manger
  • Assists with process of printing and posting daily schedules for inpatients

Other (5%)

  • All other duties as assigned by the Therapy Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card from the American Heart Association
  • Organizational skills
  • Previous experience in a pediatric setting preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: These include stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, pulling, pushing, standing, carrying, and lifting of light loads (up to 35 lb.), as necessary for patient care.
