Overview
The Machine Shop Inspector thoroughly examines material goods on the production line using measuring equipment and either approves or rejects an item based on its final quality.

The Machine Shop Inspector thoroughly examines material goods on the production line using measuring equipment and either approves or rejects an item based on its final quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Uses precision measuring instruments, such as: micrometers, Vernier calipers, and standard rings and plug gages, gage blocks, sine bars, comparators and surface analyzers
- May operate coordinate measuring equipment, hardness checking equipment, and surface analyzers
- Performs complex layout inspection characteristics for First Article inspections
- Performs weld inspection
- Familiar with Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques
- Works under minimal supervision
- Inspects aerospace machined products with tight tolerance
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required
- Minimum of 4 years' inspection experience
- Must have a good working knowledge of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing (GDT) and be proficient in reading blueprints
- Must be proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment
