DESCRIPTION
Mendocino College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track instructor to join our friendly, dynamic and student-centered business department. This academic position will provide instruction for students in business transfer, associate and certificate programs. With primary emphasis on high quality undergraduate education, courses offered include introduction to business, marketing, accounting, business law, economics, business math, entrepreneurship, human resources, and customer service. In addition to teaching on the main campus in Ukiah, business courses are offered online, hybrid, as well as in-person at our Centers throughout the Mendocino-Lake Community College District (MLCCD).

This is a full-time, tenure track position offering a 10 month contract (August-May). The annual teaching load is 510 lecture hours, 680 lab hours, or a combination of the two . The annual work year includes 164 instructional days and eleven professional development/flex days. This assignment may include day, evening, and weekend classes, as well as travel to, and instruction at off-campus centers.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Compensation is dependent on education and experience.
Annual salary offered at $65,473 - $93,931. Step seven (7) is the maximum step placement based on year for year teaching experience or two years of FTE work experience in the field per step.

Benefits: With NO monthly premium contribution from the faculty member, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes family medical, dental, vision, EAP benefits and employee life insurance. Additional voluntary life insurance is available for employee purchase. Benefits are effective the first of the month following hire date.
Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn ten (10) days of sick leave per year.
Retirement: This position is eligible for CalSTRS Retirement. Additional, voluntary 403{b)programs are available.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
The successful candidate will support success by providing instructional support and institutional collaboration. This includes the following duties and/or assignments.
Teaching :
Instructs primarily foundation curriculum in the disciplines of business, marketing, accounting, business math, human resources, and entrepreneurship.
Teaches business curriculum following approved course outlines.
Teaches all scheduled days and times, arriving prepared in a timely manner.
Teaches online, hybrid, and in-person courses at the main campus and Center locations.
Prepares, distributes, and follows a course syllabus.
Prepares student-centered instruction with opportunities for instructor-student feedback, including group activities, discussions, and assignments.
Evaluates student performance with multiple assessments, which may include quizzes, exams, or other assignments appropriate to the course outline;
Supports student success by posting and maintaining weekly student contact hours.
Maintains discipline expertise and develops teaching practices.
Prepares and submits attendance, and grading reports in a timely manner.
Supports student success by providing opportunities for student interaction and promoting student activities and campus life
Department:
Collegially participates in the development, review, and modification of all business curriculum.
Collegially participates in business advisory committee and departmental meetings.
Engages in the annual program review process.
Assesses course and program student learning outcomes.
Evaluates full-time and part-time faculty in the business or related disciplines.
Assists Deans in scheduling of classes, recruiting, hiring, and assigning part-time faculty in the business discipline.
Supervises any student workers in the discipline.
Institution:
. Attends all in-service days, commencement ceremonies, and assigned committee meetings.
Completes approved professional development "flex hours."
Supports academic and career pathways with institutional articulation and curriculum development.
Maintains records and participates in the budget process for acquisition, use and disposal of department resources.
Collegially participates in the processes of shared governance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office and classroom settings. This assignment may include day, evening, and weekend classes, online instruction, as well as travel to, and instruction at, off-campus centers. Physical demands include sitting, standing, bending, walking, and occasional light lifting (up to 15 lbs).
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring; including by not limited to a Live Scan background check and completion of TB test.
Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, geographic, gender/gender-identity and ethnic backgrounds of students, staff, and faculty.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education
OR
Bachelor's in any of the above
AND
Master's in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
OR
Bachelor's in economics with a business emphasis
AND
Master's in personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
