INSTRUCTOR (SENIOR CENTER)
FULL TIME
$15.00 per hour – Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

The purpose of this classification is to work with the Director in planning, implementing, and instructing classes at the Effingham County Senior Citizens Center.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions**)
:

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

Plans and instructs craft projects, including knitting, crocheting, sewing, seasonal decorations, quilting, beading, etc.

Plans and instructs ceramics classes; prepares each clients’ work station by gathering and putting out stains, glazes, brushes, etc., to prepare ceramics; loads and unloads kiln; operates kiln.

Maintains inventory of all supplies; Discusses needed supplies with Senior Center Director; Orders and picks up supplies as needed.

Maintain and give monthly projects calendar to the Director on the last working day of the month.

Figures prices of items to be sold at gift shop.

Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.

Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED; supplemented vocational training in CPR; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving teaching crafts; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
