The Director of Nursing Services assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the facility. In collaboration with the facility administration, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each patient/resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychological well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants and organizations. Including government agencies and advocacy groups to develop, support and coordinate patient/resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interest of the facility. Reporting to the Executive Director

Responsibilities although not all inclusive, below are examples of what you will be responsible for in this role:

  • Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Knows and practices the prescribed philosophy, purpose, policies, and standards of Nursing/Patient Care Services.
  • Organizes, directs, and administers the Nursing/Patient Care Services to provide the level of care required by current medical and nursing standards.
  • Plans and coordinates with the CFO, utilizing the respective Nursing Leadership members for planning the budgeting requirements for personnel, supplies, and equipment.
  • Responsible for cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from the approved departmental budgets.
  • Supports and develops Nursing/Patient Care Services in the coordination of the employee selection process, work assignments, performance evaluations, and staff development for these services.
  • Maintains continuing quality assessment and improvement analysis and evaluation of patient care delivery and communicates with Administration on the activities/issues of Nursing/Patient Care Services.
  • Plans and recommends to CEO new facilities or equipment, or modification thereto, needed to provide patient care.
  • Recommends, supports, and participates in education services, programs of education, and training, including orientation of new employees. Encourages and facilitates the professional advancement of employees by affording opportunities for further education and experience.
  • Recommends the modification, addition, or deletion of personnel policies to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide patient care coverage.
  • Initiates and participates in problem-solving, policy-forming conferences for Nursing/Patient Care Services. Maintains close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
  • Ensures that cordial relationships are maintained with patients, their families and friends, physicians, and other interested groups in the community.
  • Participates in policy decisions that affect Nursing/Patient Care Services in the hospital.
  • Participates in the Administrative and Medical Staff Meetings.
  • Responsible for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of performance improvement and CQI.
  • Always assures Nursing Leadership support for staff by maintaining a Nursing Administration Call rotation.
  • Participates in Administrator on Call rotation with the CEO and senior administrative leaders.
  • Communicates key information to respective stakeholders. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and policies.
  • Participates in Administrator on Call rotation with senior administrative leaders.

· Is knowledgeable of patient/resident rights and promotes an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and wellbeing of all residents in a safe, secure environment.

· Compliance with all regularly requirements.

· Compliance with and enforcement of current law and policy to provide a work environment free from harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

· Supports and participates in common teamwork.

· Cooperates and works together with all co-workers, plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.

· Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.

· Reports complaints, problems and concerns regarding co-workers, management or residents in accordance with company policy

· Promotes positive public relations with patients, residents, family member and guests.

· Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties assigned.

· Agrees to comply with Code of Conduct.

Continuing Education:

  • Attends in service and educational programs.
  • Attends continuing education required for maintenance of professional certification or licensure

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to communicate in English via phone, in writing, and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patient families, and any outside customers.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hands or fingers, handle of feel, reach who hands and arms, talk or hear, taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, death perceptions, and ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Works in office areas as well as throughout the Facility. Must be able to move about intermittently during working hours including standing, lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be able to transfer patients and assists in emergency evacuations.
  • Interacts with patients, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
  • Exercises Universal precautions in this hospital environment to protect against the possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions.

Qualifications:

· Current Texas State RN licensure

· Minimum one (1) year experience in patient care services management

· Minimum one (1) year of Nursing leadership experience

· Post-acute care or rehabilitation nursing experience preferred

· Results Driven leader, demonstrating a history of success in nursing leadership

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

· Good problem solving and independent thinking skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 per year
