Institutional Library Services is a program of the Washington State Library that provides library services to the incarcerated individuals and patients in Washington's prisons and State Hospitals.
This position reports to the Branch Library Services Program Manager and is responsible for providing interlibrary loan (ILL) services from Institutional Library Services (ILS) branch libraries to the Department of Corrections (DOC) minimum facilities and for management of the Public Library Card program for the minimum facilities.

Provides interlibrary loan service from ILS branches to DOC minimum facilities
Tasks Include:
- Receives ILL requests from minimum facilities via email
- Sends requests to ILS branches via OCLC WorldShare to fill requests
- Sends overdues and maintains records of lost items for invoicing
- Maintains statistics and reports monthly to supervisor
- Works with supervisor to establish and maintain policies and procedures for the program
Manages the Public Library Card program for DOC minimum facilities
Tasks Include:- Receives requests from minimum facility staff regarding incarcerated individual request for cards
- Supplies the required materials for staff to give to incarcerated individual
- Registers incarcerated individual online for the card
- Notifies public library of registration per instructions
- Maintains statistics and reports monthly to supervisor
- Works with supervisor to establish and maintain policies and procedures for the program
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Within the past 10 years, three years of experience in a library providing adult/young adult public service
- Ability to read and write English language
- Ability to efficiently use a personal computer and applicable software to successfully perform the essential job functions of the position
PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with OCLC WorldShare interlibrary loan
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires sitting for long periods of time while working in a library/office environment. The core hours are Monday - Friday from 8 AM-12 PM. There may be occasional local travel required. This position uses standard office equipment such as a computer, fax, copier, and phone. The incumbent works with both internal and external customers by phone, email, and in person.
