Philo is seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Investment Strategy & Operations Associate to help drive our earliest investment strategy efforts and support our portfolio companies from launch to spinout. This will be an exciting and dynamic role, key to the success of Philo and its portfolio companies, with the opportunity for significant personal upside associated with portfolio company success.

The Role:

This role is a critical early hire for Philo, intended to accelerate the Philo’s pace of opportunity validation and launch. The Investment Associate will develop and action unique insights during the earliest stages of portfolio company ideation, investment, and development. The Investment Associate will work closely with Philo partners, platform team members, and Founders-in-Residence to quickly validate/invalidate opportunities and drive validated opportunities to launch. The successful candidate will have a passion for creating value through effective due diligence, financial analysis, entrepreneurial efforts, creative problem solving, strategic thinking extending beyond the traditional limits of the typical investor purview, and effectively communicating strategy to influence decision-making.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct due diligence, market research, financial analysis, and problem and solution discovery, in the earliest stages of Philo's opportunity analysis, in partnership with the responsible Philo partner and Founder-in-Residence
• Partner with product, design, and engineering team members to define business opportunities and drive effective and timely launch of new businesses and products
• Participate in all aspects of Philo’s opportunity ideation, discovery, and validation processes
• Act as a strategic partner to portfolio company leadership, creating value wherever and however possible
• Support Philo efforts to continually improve internal activities and processes facilitating efficient business ideation, validation, launch, and growth
• Actively participate in new business opportunity ideation

Required Qualifications & Capabilities:

• Passion for early-stage investment strategy analysis, 0-to-1 product and company development, and the opportunity to work within numerous businesses and industries at any given time
• Comfort with core investment analysis activities, including due diligence and financial modeling
• Ability to leverage insights developed through investment analysis activities to steer portfolio company strategy
• Venture capital, investment banking, private equity, or strategy experience, paired with a passion for participating in the creative process inherent in launching and building new businesses
• Exceptional communication, presentation, organizational and analytical skills
• Humility, desire to learn, and bias for action

Nice to Haves:

• Experience or strong interest in entrepreneurship
• Undergrad degree from a top university in strategy, finance, economics, product management, or a related field
• Advanced analytical capabilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
