Jr. Website Developer

This role is based in Garrison, NY.

The Franciscan Friars of the Atonement (FOA) are seeking a dynamic and highly competent Web Developer to enhance and maintain our WordPress websites and provide proven capabilities to work with cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, while meeting all project deadlines. Develops agency’s website(s), optimizing SEO, for fund raising, promotional and informational purposes. Ensures FOA websites are easy to navigate and addresses the overall needs of the organization and its donors. This role works in partnership with an outside vendor partner and reports directly to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.

Who We Are: We are the Friars and Sisters of the Atonement. We were founded 125 years ago by Father Paul Wattson, and Mother Lurana White. They founded the Society of the Atonement at Graymoor for their shared vision for At-One-Ment; a mission to see hope, healing, and harmony unify those of all faiths (ecumenical ministry) and cultures throughout the world. What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Ensure the UX/UI of our flagship website is built to nurture continued support from our donors and benefactors.
  • This role will also be significantly involved in shaping the Friars of the Atonements flagship website as a destination for vital storytelling about our 125-year-old ministries and work in which the Friars are invested.
  • Develop pages, applications, and other internal and external Atonement Friars properties.
  • Support the Marketing and Communications, IT, Mission Support, and Development teams of our ministries with front-end coding and development of web assets to support flagship digital campaigns, microsites, and products -- including the annual report, podcast, event streaming, fundraising campaigns, and light boxes.
  • Ensure on-site search engine optimization (SEO) of code and metadata.
  • Coordinate across the organization to keep websites up-to-date with the latest information about programs and events.
  • Ensure all changes to organizations websites utilize website statistics to determine health and growth.
  • Work in close collaboration with creative teams to translate content and brand strategy into innovative interactive experiences.
  • Manages process for A/B testing through relevant tools.
  • Manage, utilize, and advise colleagues on the use of external web tools, platforms, and services.
  • Research emerging technologies and services that may enhance the web experience and make recommendations to management team.
  • Articulate alternatives in terms of cost, benefit, and risk where multiple solutions exist and propose technical project plans.
  • Develop end users’ documentation, including application training manual, and workflows.
  • Manage all software testing and systems updates in conformity with change management policies.
  • Work with marketing team, executive leadership, and our vendor partners to develop best strategy roadmaps and feature releases to compete in our space.
  • Interface with the executive team to define requirements, recommend solutions and ultimately implement per cost, scope, and schedule.

What You’ll Bring (Skills):

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or 5+ years of practical experience
  • Must have coding experience in HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Python and/or SwiftExperience with social operational tools like content management, publishing, and community management.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a front-end WordPress developer
  • Proficient in WordPress CMS platform, plugin, and theme development.
  • Experience integrating 3rd party finance and billing platforms with WordPress websites.
  • Proficiency in building web-enabled database applications using ASP, .Net, java script, XHTML, CSS, PHP, and XML based web services.
  • Very good understanding of WordPress, joomla and Drupal site content creation and maintenance.
  • The ability to create and revise Word Press and HTML pages; prepare digital images, slide shows, videos and other medias and posts to web server in a timely manner.
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Experience using web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics with a view of driving progress and continuance improvement.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices.
  • Web accessibility experience.
  • Strong ability to juggle multiple assignments accurately and prioritize key deliverables.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and websites.
  • Highly proficient with JavaScript/jQuery, DART, PHP, Python, C#, HTML, CSS,
  • Familiarity with database technology such as MySQL, MS SQL, and MongoDB
  • Additional experience in E-Commerce, Shopify, Moodle, Canvas, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in API development, data integration, documentation, and testing a plus.

Salary $68,000 – $75,000 depending on experience.
