Qualifications:


  • 2-year degree from college or technical school; or equivalent experience in an industrial laboratory environment, 4-year degree preferred; Bachelor of Science or Engineering preferred
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in both self-managed and team environment
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines
  • Comfortable with safely working with hazardous materials
  • Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Effective problem solver
  • Possess strong computer and analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Responsibilities:


With minimal guidance from supervision and within established procedures,The incumbent will provide support to the Chemists / Engineers in the research and development process. Research may include assistance with information/data management activities and analysis of results

  • Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory; collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur
  • Identify and suggest improvements in methods
  • Produce research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assemble and configure small/pilot scale equipment and control systems utilizing a variety of techniques
  • Document findings and communicating results
  • Make suggestions on path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow
  • Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments at work location
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Preparation and evaluation of coating formulations including electro-coat, primer, topcoat and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment
  • Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations
  • Interpret and communicate test results using computer-based systems
  • Document experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel
  • Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis
  • Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints
