Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This position is located at the District Five Headquarters Office in Hutchinson. This position supervises the preliminary survey activities for the Bureau of Right of Way and manages the internal resources, along with coordination of consultant survey resources utilized by the Bureau. The Surveyor is responsible to locate, establish and/or relocate section corners, property corners and KDOT right of way, review deeds and plans relative to project site, alignment recovery and establishment, vertical control recovery and benchmark establishment, obtaining elevations and topographic information, makes on site project inspections of survey operations to review all operations and training appropriate District personnel in surveying and basic mathematics.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Land Surveying License recognized by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions is required.
  • Valid Driver’s license at time of appointment.
  • Four years of supervisory or management experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in surveying and operating electronic surveying equipment, computers, and programmable calculators.
  • Extensive knowledge of instructions from Governmental Land Office and State Statutes as it applies to property corners.
  • Six years of progressive land surveying experience.

Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements

  • This position is subject to pre-employment physical testing. The selected candidate will be required to pass the screening as a condition of employment.
