The Facilities Department at Endicott College is seeking a Lead Grounds/Equipment Operator to performs duties related to repairs and projects for buildings and grounds.

The Lead Grounds/Equipment Operator is a full-time position. Responsibilities include:

  • Train, assign, and review the work of the grounds department. Develops daily work schedules and assigns grounds personnel.
  • Works with supervisor to review department requests and recommend best procedures or methods for completing job
  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program
  • Organizes and leads the snow removal effort across campus
  • Performs grounds maintenance, including planting of trees and shrubs, mowing lawns, and collecting leaves.
  • Repairs minor problems in facilities as needed and in response to work orders.
  • Makes minor repairs to equipment.
  • Assists in function setup and breakdowns.
  • Moves furniture and equipment as needed 10. Performs miscellaneous assignments as directed.
  • Participates in the on-call policy.
  • Act as interim director in the absence of the Director of Grounds
  • Other duties as needed to achieve the goals of the department and the College.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of day-to-day operations in a college environment.
  • Principles of training and providing work direction
  • Skills and knowledge to perform required duties
  • Methods used in planting, pruning, cultivating, fertilizing, and caring for plants, flowers, shrubs, trees, and lawns
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and assess
  • Flexible and able to work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels.
  • Ability to work overtime as required and in response to emergency situations
  • High School Diploma and 3-5 years of experience
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must provide proof of valid Mass. driver's license and current DOT medical form annually.
  • Maintain a valid Department of Public Safety Hoisting License.
