Location: Port Townsend, WA
Legal Assistant: The Prosecuting Attorney’s Office of Jefferson County is seeking a Legal Assistant. Legal Assistants help attorneys prepare for trials, hearings, or court cases. Duties of this job include: answering phones; processing mail; communicating with crime victims or witnesses; contributing to fact-checking; compiling case evidence; communicating with court employees to confirm court dates; communicating with other agencies to acquire court records; research laws; serving subpoenas; maintaining databases; and preparing documents to assist prosecutors as needed as they represent County, State, and other municipalities.
Minimum qualifications:
Individual needs to be able to perform this job successfully in each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are listed on the , please see attached, and are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Valid Washington State Driver's License upon hire and throughout employment.
Education and/or Experience:
High School graduate including or supplemented by an Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college in legal secretarial science or a legal assistant program, and two (2) years related experience in a Prosecutor's or law office; or equivalent combination of education and experience in public or private sector, and advanced legal secretarial skills are required.
Hours & Compensation:
This is a Grade 24 UFCW position. Range is $20.92-$26.13/hr, starting pay typically $20.92/hour, DOE, with full benefits, 40 hours per week.
