The full-time Legal Assistant is responsible for providing general administrative support to attorneys in a thriving, well established local Family Law Firm located in the West End of Richmond, Virginia.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs routine administrative tasks for lawyers and other timekeepers, such as preparing correspondence and pleadings and responding to client inquiries, etc.
  • Performs organizational tasks including paper and electronic filing utilizing sophisticated software such as Tabs3 (billing) or PracticeMaster (case mgmt).
  • Coordinates schedules, organize meetings, maintains lawyers’ calendars and handles tasks as directed by lawyers and timekeepers.
  • Collaborates with resources inside and outside the firm as appropriate to complete projects or tasks.
  • Input attorneys’ time into Tab3s billing platform.
  • Assists in fostering an environment of superior customer service, collaboration, commitment, team spirit, pride, and trust.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrates a "can do" attitude and initiative to assist with a variety of projects.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of firm personnel and outside clients and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational skills and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products including, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as determined by the specific position.
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of two years of prior work experience as a legal or executive assistant supporting professionals in a litigation/family law firm is preferred. A four-year degree from an accredited college or university or any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position is desirable.
