Woodbridge staff counsel office of Plymouth Rock Management Company of New Jersey seeks a full time Legal Examiner with an insurance defense background to handle all aspects of personal injury litigation and PIP arbitrations. The position would require the LE to work in a paperless environment and to prepare all litigation pleadings and motions and review and work all daily PIP notifications when needed.

The candidate must be extremely organized, a team player, and be able to handle a high volume of files in an efficient, independent, and productive manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Work in a completely paperless environment.
  • Complete conflict checks and open new files.
  • Scan and name mail according to office guidelines.
  • Timely complete all work requests.
  • Draft and send out all pleadings, third party complaints, motions, summonses, notices, authorizations etc.
  • Handle heavy telephone communication with clients, outside attorneys, witnesses, physicians, courts, and Claims personnel to arrange trial dates, obtain information, respond to inquiries, etc.
  • Compose and draft letters, memos, motions, etc. independently.
  • Input and monitors all diary follow-up items, ensuring that all documents are received by due date and that all outgoing correspondence is sent out on time.
  • Input information into the House Counsel case management database. Notify the involved parties of scheduled times and adjournments.
  • Responsible for scheduling or rescheduling trials, depositions, arbitration hearings, etc.
  • Close files upon completion of a case.
  • Schedule/Set-up Independent Medical Exams via vendor portal.
  • Works as back up for other LEs when necessary.
  • Performs the above duties with minimal supervision.
  • Handle special projects as they arise.
Qualifications and Education
  • A high school diploma.
  • Excellent Keying Skills.
  • Good organization skills and analytical abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the Legal and Claim operations
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Personal computer knowledge, including Word and Excel software
  • Case Litigation Management System experience a plus
