Job description
LAC Federal is seeking a Project Manager to oversee a large team of Library Technicians responsible for all collections maintenance and logistics for a large federal library. The Project Manager will work on-site at the Library 40 hours a week planning, monitoring, and reviewing Library Technician work. This will include planning large collection relocation projects, transportation of materials, and sorting/shelving large quantities of materials. The project requires working with a diverse group of staff working on multiple team concurrently in geographically dispersed locations. The Manager will provide training, quality control, oversight, and reporting on staff work.
Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
Responsibilities
- Train, supervise and monitor staff work for quality, productivity and safety
- Prepare training guides and manuals
- Maintain detailed statistical reports
- Analyze trends in staff work for quality and other performance issues
- Respond to staff personnel issues
- Plan and coordinate large scale initiative including collection relocation of large quantities of materials
Qualifications
- At least two (2) years' experience working in the book stacks of a major research library with more than a million volumes;
- Experience supervising a staff of 10+ full-time employees (FTE), including stack maintenance activities (i.e., arranging, shelving, shelf-reading, etc.);
- Possess the ability to train and review the work of others;
- Possess the ability to address performance and personnel issues;
- Possess the ability to compile statistical data to produce weekly and monthly reports of work reviewed; and
- Have good interpersonal skills, both written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Excel, Word, and comparable office automation products to produce detailed statistical reports
- Must have experience working with large amounts of data in spreadsheets
- Knowledge of how to sort and arrange in accordance Library of Congress Classification schedule a must
- Must be able to work a 40-hour-per-week schedule on site in downtown Washington, DC.
