Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Clinical Psychologist (multiple positions)

Provide professional mental health services to the students of Colorado College; work as part of the Counseling Center team of mental health professionals. We are seeking to fill one position with the most qualified candidate, either licensed at the master's level or the doctoral level in Colorado (see requirements below).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, couples, and family counseling.
  • Perform mental health, substance abuse, eating disorder and suicide assessments.
  • Provide professional psychotherapy services to the students of Colorado College.
  • Work some evenings and weekends.
  • Perform emergency mental health evaluations and crisis intervention counseling, which may include emergency hospitalizations.
  • Maintain and increase current knowledge regarding diversity, inclusion, young adult development, eating disorders, substance abuse, and other issues seen at the counseling center.
  • Perform professional documentation with electronic medical records.
  • Provide urgent mental health care to walk-in and urgent cases.
  • Attend care coordination meetings with psychiatrist and other counseling center staff. Report client information to psychiatrist.
  • Share 24 hour on-call coverage for mental health emergencies; provide on-call back-up for the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator as needed.
  • Consult with director and other staff on cases.
  • Provide health promotion and prevention services and programming for the students of Colorado College in a wide variety of areas, such as substance abuse, eating disorders, trauma, suicide, depression, and anxiety.
  • Provide consultations and liaisons with all members of the college community, as needed.
  • Actively support the colleges commitment to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
  • Act in a socially responsible manner and model environmental sustainability by exercising financial prudence, using college resources wisely, and supporting ecological initiatives and innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Responsibilities at the Doctoral Level - Greater responsibilities and duties: Provide Clinical supervision to other staff, including maters level clinicians, perform limited psych testing, supervise interns, develop clinical systems, perform analysis of data on center functioning and other assigned duties in support of the mission.

Additional Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:
Masters degree from an accredited program in Counseling, Social Work or Clinical Psychology; LCSW or LPC; licensed in Colorado (LCSW or LPC) or capable of transferring licensure to Colorado is required; highly developed clinical skills in evaluation, crisis intervention, psychotherapy and young adult development; experience working with any of the following; anxiety disorders, depression, sexual assault survivors, trauma, suicidal clients, eating disorders and/or substance abuse is required; experience working with a diverse population; ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds; knowledge of basic mental health medications.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D./Psy.D.in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program; experience working with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, sexual assault issues, suicidality and/or substance abuse in a college population; demonstrated ability to provide high quality mental health services and ; previous experience in a college counseling center; demonstrated ability to perform emergency mental health assessments; demonstrated competence in working with a culturally diverse student population. Bi-lingual is a plus and experience working with a diverse client population is desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $49,578.00 - $78,829.00 per year
