Stanton | Barton LLC is a diverse, progressive, technologically savvy boutique defense litigation and trial firm. In addition to our robust benefits package, our Timekeepers can work up to 40% of the time on a remote basis. We are looking for a skilled litigation paralegal with at least 2 years’ experience working at a defense litigation firm. Senior level paralegals are encouraged to also apply as the position involves all aspects of litigation preparation. The successful candidate will have experience with and be able to provide assistance during all phases of the litigation process including obtaining records via subpoenas, authorizations and FOIA requests, summarizing medical records, business records and other documents as well as conducting document review and production and coordination of discovery. Upon occasion paralegals are also asked to assist at trial with witness coordination and evidence presentation.
Responsibilities
· Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
· Drafts legal documents including routine subpoenas, authorizations and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests in accordance with local jurisdictions and legal procedures.
· Assists with all aspects of discovery including prepares documents received from clients and third parties for productions, including bates numbering, and prepares document production/receipt logs, privilege logs, and summaries as needed.
· Interviews clients and witnesses and prepares summaries of their statements.
· Conducts informal research on entities and other individuals involved in litigation.
· Assists attorneys with preparing motion exhibits and other pre-trial pleadings.
· Assists attorneys with trial preparation, which may include attending trials and hearings.
· Maintains daily record of billable hours within firm billing system pursuant to firm hourly budget requirements.
· Oversees tasks assigned to administrative assistant by the paralegal.
Skills
- Proven working experience as a litigation paralegal.
- Applicable knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules and procedures, practices, etc.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong writing and communication skills along with attention to detail.
- Technologically savvy with experience in all common workplace programs including Adobe and other document management systems.
- Associates degree or paralegal certification required.
