The Population Health Team is looking for a compassionate and adaptable Medical Assistant to join their wonderful team! This position will support the Fruitland Health Plaza and Baker City Family Medicine Clinics!

About this Position: This position will support the Fruitland Health Plaza (Fruitland, ID) and Baker City Family Medicine (Baker City, OR) clinics. The position can be based at either location. The position will round once a month at the other clinic that is not the home clinic, typically one to two days a month.

The Population MA (PHMA) position helps support clinical staff with implementing processes for population health initiatives and supports Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) transformational work. This work directly effects patient care. The PHMA work also includes supporting system-wide quality performance goals for HEDIS and STAR measures.

This work includes educating back office staff on wellness visits, risk coding, and teaching and troubleshooting work flows to staff to improve patient care and outcomes. Another primary responsibility of this position is working on gaps in care lists, looking for patients that are due for different screenings and follow up, reviewing payor lists for open gaps in care, completing chart review for documentation of gap closure, and contacting patients or collaborating with care team to close the gap.

This position will also complete advanced care planning which typically includes completing home visits with patients and their families. Currently home visits are on hold due to COVID-19, so telehealth appointments via video or phone are conducted.

An ideal candidate enjoys a care team support role, troubleshooting, working in a team and independently, and is passionate about helping to provide the best care for our patients. An ideal candidate will also enjoy working with technology such as EHR systems and Excel.

Work Schedule: This position will work Mondays - Fridays, 5 – 8 hour shifts; around the hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm, shift start and end times are flexible. The position can be based in either Fruitland, ID or Baker City, OR and then will visit the other clinic location that is not the home clinic.

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of eligibility to take a national certification exam from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire

Experience Requirements:

  • 3 years of previous clinical experience required; 5 years preferred
  • Electronic health record (EHR) experience required
  • Experience with process improvement or Lean philosophy preferred.
