Machinist
Zepher, Inc is an innovative and rapidly growing contract manufacturing company located in the Columbia River Gorge that provides cutting edge technical products to aerospace, military and commercial customers. We are currently seeking a Machinist that works with the CNC machinist to setup and operate a variety of CNC machine tools to fabricate, modify or repair precision parts. Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Machinist include:
- Perform high precision, high stakes machining operations, involving zero defect/100% yield on critical jobs.
- Read and comprehend detailed drawings and specifications (including GD&T), and plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or assemblies.
- Set-up and operate machine tools used to perform precision machining operations in the machine shop or manufacturing floor, including programming CNC machines (such as lathes, milling machines)
- Perform quality control, inspection and testing of machined parts using Coordinate Measurement Systems (CMM, Laser Trackers, etc.) and other precision tools (calipers, ring gauges, gauge blocks, micrometers, dial indicators, etc.) Produce inspection reports that are easily followed, containing written descriptions, 3D visuals, and data tables.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and solve tooling and equipment problems, and aid in manufacturing, inspection, and engineering issues.
- Manufacture or research fixtures, part holding, and tooling for the machining of parts as necessary.
- Perform some simple machine preventative maintenance and cleaning functions, update preventative maintenance schedules as needed.
- Perform hand deburring with associated tools and methods.
- Support production assembly and test.
General:
- Develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems and projects to ensure organizational objectives and deadlines are met.
- Develop and monitor documentation, including operational instructions and/or standard procedures (such as producing easily followed work instructions, quality forms, or inspection checklists, and measurement plans).
- Support continuous improvement of products and processes.
- Troubleshoot problems with products or equipment on production floor.
- Operate production equipment and tools in accordance with work instructions, safety procedures and training.
- Prepare packaging and documentation for finished products.
- Maintain a neat and organized workspace and facility.
- Completes training on relevant quality procedures and understands his/her contribution to the achievement of company quality objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience running machine tools
- Minimum (2) years experience with machine setups
- Minimum one (1) years’ experience programming CNC machines from models and/or 2-D technical drawings
- Minimum 3 years experience in assembly or test
- High level of proficiency with metrology software and programming
- High level of proficiency with CAD software systems (SolidWorks preferred).
- High level of proficiency with MASTERCAM, including programming and operation
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M and/or Y14.41
- Moderate proficiency with Coordinate Measurement Systems, Polyworks preferred
- Understanding of machining production processes and quality requirements
- Ability to perform work wearing all required personal protective equipment
- Physical activities can include standing, repetitive motion, walking, lifting, pushing or carrying heavy objects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in math, and communication skills
- Aerospace, medical, or other highly regulated manufacturing
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $68,480 - $85,035
- Coverage begins 1stof the month following 60 days of employment.
- Zepher pays 75% of the monthly medical premiums for employees and their qualified dependents.
