POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance B Technician will perform task related to general plant maintenance and facility operations. This position will involve working with the maintenance department for repair, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting, and building maintenance with a strong focus on safety. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor for assigned task and direction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Load and lighting circuit identification and tracing
  • Capable of using an electrical multi-meter proficiently
  • Identification and usage of basic circuit components in an industrial electrical system
  • Knowledge of 3 phase power (480V) and industrial plant power distribution
  • Working with general electro-mechanical devices such as: Motors and motor drives, pulley and sprocket systems, Controllers and Servos, pneumatic devices, product transport systems (conveyors), pumps and drives
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and service minor mechanical/electrical equipment failures with assistance
  • Welding (Stick and MIG)
  • PLC Ladder Logic and its applications
  • Performs other duties/ projects as assigned or as required by the position.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS/REPORTING:

  • All Departments, corporate engineering, vendors, contractors, suppliers, engineering consultants.
  • Reports to Maintenance Supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work shift work
  • General knowledge regarding mechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of industrial and Arc Flash safety procedures
  • Nominal verbal and written communication skills
  • Personal interaction skills in dealing with co-workers and supervisory staff
  • Willing to work 5-10 hours or more overtime per week, if necessary, standby required
  • Working knowledge of and minimal usage skill of common shop equipment
  • Welding experience (stick and MIG) in an industrial, mechanical or manufacturing environment
  • Willing to obtain required, additional training for job requirements
  • Understanding of Industrial (Production) and Manufacturing work environment
  • General understanding of the function of PLC Ladder Logic and its applications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: 1-3 years industrial maintenance experience or equivalent

QUALIFICATION/ REQUIREMENT:

  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: None
  • TRAVEL: Up to 25%
  • EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
  • The ability to work in extreme weather
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
  • Standing for sustained periods of time
  • Sometimes sitting for extended periods
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another
  • Lifting or carrying 20 to 50%: 20 to 60 pounds
  • Lifting or carrying up to 20 %: 60 to 80 pounds with assistance

MENTAL DEMANDS: Must handle diverse work problems on a daily basis. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must relate and interact with people at all levels in the Company.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Heavy manufacturing environment with associated environmental conditions normally associated with such a workplace, such as high heat levels in summer months, dust, areas with high levels of work-related noise.
