Position Summary:

Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure, bio-med equipment in good working order and assists with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) for IT handling minor IT issues as directed by the MSP/Director of Facility Services. Primary duties will include minor electrical work, mechanical repairs, and other duties relating to maintenance and IT needs.

Position Responsibilities:

Clinical / Technical Skills (40% of performance review)

  • Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems as required.
  • Performs preventative maintenance duties to all physical structures of the facility and complies with all building safety codes. This is to include facility equipment and associated controls.
  • Assists in maintaining and repairing HVAC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas.
  • Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required.
  • Perform upkeep of the facility, which could include but not limited to, painting, wall repair, on call after hours, unclogging toilets and sinks, etc.
  • As required, assists in maintaining electrical wiring, IT computer set ups and emergency generator systems. Inspects and tests equipment/systems.
  • Assists in replacing, installing, repairing and testing electrical circuits, IT equipment, equipment, appliances and lighting systems as required.
  • Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.
  • Performs manual duties as requested (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs removing trash and scrap material).
  • Reads blueprints, interprets instructions and prepares specifications.
  • Knowledgeable of safety measures/devices used on behavioral health units.
  • A working knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems.
  • A thorough knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge and observance of safety precautions.
  • Perform other duties as required

  • Ensures proper documentation in all position activities, following federal and state guidelines.

Education

  • Required: High school diploma or GED. CPR and hospital-selected de-escalation technique certification.
  • Preferred: Some college or vocational program
  • Maintains education and development appropriate for position.
  • May substitute experience for required education.

Experience

  • Required: One year building maintenance and/or general labor on construction projects or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: HVAC certification and/or a minimum of two years experience in HVAC repair and maintenance, and a minimum of one (1) year experience in a behavioral healthcare setting.
  • IT experience with basic IT skills, setting up computers, changing out equipment, and etc.
  • May substitute education for experience.
