• 1. Responsible for a variety of repair, preventative maintenance tasks, and maintenance documentation on various equipment throughout Bassett Healthcare Network to ensure that all equipment is safe and operational.

  
  2. Assists staff members on various repair maintenance and preventative maintenance work orders throughout Bassett Healthcare Network to ensure that all mechanical equipment is safe and operational.

  
  3. Performs various work requests to ensure that department/area customer’s facility issues and needs are addressed in a timely and quick manner.

  
  4. Takes “ownership” of assigned tasks that effectively and positively represents the Facilities/Engineering Services department and ensures completion of work requests and ensures customer satisfaction.

  
  5. Assists Bassett staff with use and repair of equipment.

  
  6. Assists with new employee training as needed.

  
  7. Develops material lists for jobs/work, ensuring timely acquisition.

  
  8. Maintains a positive working relationship with job related contacts, such as management, patients, employees, contractors, and vendors in order to improve overall departmental and area performance and to ensure that all job contacts are pleasant and productive.

Education/Qualifications:

• High school graduate required, college degree OR certification preferred.

Experience:

• Experience in fire and life safety preferred.
• An understanding of sprinkler and fire detection system operation and control.

Skills:

• Work independently with minimal supervision good computer skills with working knowledge in Microsoft Office.
• Extensive knowledge of NFPA and local codes and fire safety standards.
• Work collaboratively with all other departments.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions while responding to or performing normal fire safety operations with prolonged/extensive sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
