About this opportunity
As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll be responsible for preventative and reactive maintenance activities to support printing and converting production departments, maintaining the physical plant, utilities, and grounds for TC Lenexa. In this position, you’ll perform maintenance tasks in support of plant modernization and expansion projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as improving equipment availability and reliability.
This opening is for an 8-hour, 2nd shift schedule working 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm, Monday – Friday.
The training will likely begin on day shift and could last between 30-90 days, with the duration based on previous work experience and ability to demonstrate job-specific skills required for the position. The training schedule is flexible, based on the candidate availability.
What you will do

  • Communicate with production personnel regarding problems or potential problems with equipment
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain records of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment on flexographic printing presses, and various bag, laminating, and slitting machines
  • Install, starts-up and shut-down equipment according to safety procedures
  • Work with equipment vendors on installation of new equipment and coordinate efforts of equipment vendors for repairs of production equipment and building components
  • Conduct daily inspections of and perform maintenance, as needed, on equipment and building components
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to schedule and specifications and maintain record of maintenance performed
  • Identify major components needed for inventory and orders parts
  • Assist and train other maintenance personnel as needed
  • Responsible for managing and handling hazardous waste
  • Participate in and complete training for D.O.T. responsibilities as outlined in the Haz-Mat Security Plan
  • Follow safety guidelines, wear designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required, and meet OSHA safety requirements
  • Follow written Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), follow Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs applicable to the position, and perform various cleaning and inspection duties to maintain SQF and food safety compliance as assigned.

What you have to offer

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience performing mechanical and electrical equipment repair on industrial manufacturing and/or commercial equipment OR advanced education or technical degree
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing machinery controlled by Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical (AC/DC and high voltage equipment)
  • Maintenance experience in the flexographic printing industry preferred but not required.
  • Ability to exert 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or 10-20 lbs. of force constantly.
  • Ability to constantly stand, walk, twist, bend, and reach at/above shoulder level.

  • Overtime may be required during heavy volume seasons
  • This is a manufacturing environment requiring wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and steel toe-covered shoes (provided by TC Lenexa), as well as hearing protection
  • Within this manufacturing environment, inks and solvents often create a strong odor
