Maintenance Technician – Cannelton Operation

Reports To: Division Manager – Cannelton Operation

Summary: performs general maintenance duties in manufacturing facility, which includes installing, maintain and repairing industrial sewing machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.

Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.

Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures.

Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings..

Bends and cuts conduit and wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.

Patches or replaces plaster or plaster board and paints walls, ceilings, and trim of building.

Visually inspects and tests sewing machines and similar equipment.

Listens for unusual sounds from sewing machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with machine operators, supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.

Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of sewing machines.

Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of sewing machines and equipment.

Able to adjust settings on computerized sewing machines.

Job Requirements: Have strong mechanical aptitude, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and must have the ability to work well with sewing machine operators and supervisors to complete jobs in an efficient manner, as well as the ability to work with minimal supervision. The position requires the ability to work all scheduled hours including required overtime hours.
