MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team and help maintain the Edgewater Beach Apartments (the pink building). A historically significant 300-unit Co-Op; nestled on the North Side of Chicago, close to the lake at Bryn Mawr (5555N). The ideal candidate should be a team player with a positive attitude focused on building maintenance and upkeep. They should have a keen eye for detail.
The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Chief Engineer, and while specific responsibilities will vary based on location, the maintenance technician will be responsible for completing work orders, maintaining the common areas of the property, responding to emergency calls and assisting the engineer on an as-needed basis.
The ability to multi-task and be adaptive to changing responsibilities while keeping a positive attitude are crucial. Strong communication and organizational skills are also key.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
§ Work in coordination with staff, vendors, contractors and residents to promote and sustain the safety, cleanliness and upkeep of the building including daily property walks, equipment assessment, work orders and preventative maintenance.
§ Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies according to documented procedures.
§ Prepare incident reports, perform fire safety and equipment inspections, some pool maintenance, snow and leaf removal, trash removal, snow salting, and janitorial support.
§ Complete service requests both in common areas and owner/resident units in a timely manner.
§ Prepare apartments for move-in and repair/replace unit mechanicals as needed.
§ Ability to work on-call may be required.
§ Maintain exterior areas – snow and leaf removal, salting, sweeping, trash removal.
§ Clean exterior BBQ grill

§ Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment which may require working holidays, weekends and nights based on needs at site location and in cases of emergency.
§ Strong time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
Skills and Experience
Experience working in multifamily facilities.
Computer skills. HVAC Certification preferred. Light plumbing, minor electrical and HVAC skills are needed.
Ability to push, lift, or move at least 90 lbs.
Non-union.
