Position Overview

The Hyatt Place Virginia Beach Town Center is looking for a maintenance person. Applicants need to be positive, energetic and willing to do whatever it takes to make our guests happy. Potential associates will need to be attentive to details and understand how this role impacts the overall success of the hotel. Ideal applicants will have great attendance and understand why maintenance plays a pivotal role in guest satisfaction. Responsibilities also include working with operations staff to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Ensures that all maintenance tools are in good working condition and stored neatly and securely in the maintenance room
• Picks up loose trash and debris, empties trash containers daily, or as needed
• Maintains cleanliness of storage areas, furniture storeroom, maintenance room, boiler room and flammable storage containers
• Tracks and records work completed/repairs
• Makes repairs in a timely and professional manner
• Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding
• Offers guest assistance as needed

Physical Requirements

• Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 50 pounds
• Push/pull carts and other equipment up to 100 pounds
• Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas
• Reaching overhead
• Must be able to stand and walk for up to 4-hours in length
• Work environment ? Engineering work shop, all areas of the hotel. Working on stepladders. Job involves working under variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor and outdoor settings, and around fumes and/or odor hazards, dust and/or mite hazards, and chemicals.

Minimum Requirements

• 6 months Hotel Building Maintenance experience preferred
• Available to work weekends and nights
• Availability to work weekends.
• Drywall experience
