The Maintenance Worker will primarily be responsible for interior and exterior maintenance and routine repairs to our facilities located in Minneapolis. The Maintenance Worker will assist with preventative maintenance as well as performing light repairs of office furniture, fixtures, and other items as needed. This position requires a self-directed individual with strong attention to detail.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Ensure that our four work sites are well maintained for staff, clients, and visitors by routinely conducting building assessments and prioritizing maintenance needs.
  • Report any potential health or safety risks on premises to the Facilities Director.
  • Perform maintenance and routine repairs as needed: lightbulb replacement, door locks, leaking faucets etc.

Performs all other duties, as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION

Medium work - Standing most of the time. Occasionally exerting up to 50 pounds of force, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED and maintenance experience.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Routine maintenance duties will require light mechanical, plumbing and/or electrical skills.
  • Must have valid driver's license and pass driving background check. Must have a reliable vehicle to move between sites.
  • Must be able to pass background check.

Experience that gives applicants the required skills, abilities, and perspectives listed above are commonly gained through one or more of the following:

  • Personal experience with homelessness;
  • Experience working, interning, or volunteering with people experiencing homelessness;
  • An Associates, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Social Work (with accompanying licensure), Human Services, or Family Studies.
