Job description
Join a reputable, first rate child welfare agency serving at-risk youth and their families through residential, education, foster care and older adolescent programs. Reports to Facilities Manager. Performs maintenance and upkeep duties for agency buildings and grounds and communicates with staff regarding same. Reads and completes work orders, and, with assistance from supervisor, prioritizes work in a logical order. Provides assistance to technicians performing skilled craft services on: HVAC systems, electrical systems, along with various building maintenance functions. Physically assists in office equipment relocation and pick up of donated goods. Performs janitorial duties. Drives agency vehicles/vans. Registers work orders tickets in Maintenance software.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists technicians performing skilled craft services on: HVAC and electrical systems and a variety of building systems.
Maintains Agency property, grounds and facilities.
Along with supervisor, plans routine to ensure areas are maintained in accordance with the Agency's standards.
Performs janitorial duties.
Assists in servicing equipment on preventive maintenance program.
May purchase parts and supplies, securing approval of supervisor.
May perform many related duties, such as waxing floors, moving furniture, etc.
Participates in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement activities as assigned.
Demonstrates ability to work effectively with clients and staff in a culturally diverse environment.
Assigned on call duties as necessary and scheduled.
Interacts in an appropriate manner when in contact with clients.
Records completion of work in maintenance work order program.
Keeps vehicles clean and fills out vehicle log.
Provides messenger (mail delivery) service between various agencies and any other locations, donation and moves as necessary.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Position requires high school diploma or equivalent plus two years of experience in building maintenance or the building trades.
Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude is required.
Valid Illinois driver's license and personal car insurance is a requirement.
Reasonable proficiency in use of spreadsheet, word processing and electronic mail software.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to perform essential functions of the job, including extensive bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing, and lifting at least 75-100 pounds.
