The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is responsible for fairly and efficiently collecting state tax revenues to fund public services, to regulate charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverage and tobacco, and to support state agencies in the collection of overdue debts. Collectively, each program, unit, division and group work together to provide the core services to taxpayers of the State of Louisiana and stakeholders of the agency. LDR is comprised of the following groups: Tax Collection, Charitable Gaming, Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC), Debt Recovery, and Louisiana Tax Free Shopping Commission.
The Collections Division is responsible for maximizing taxpayer compliance by defining and implementing procedures for the collection of income taxes owed to the State of Louisiana. This includes examination of delinquent accounts and supporting documentation to verify failed compliance with tax laws resulting in the issuance of bills and the implementation of other collection processes.
ABOUT THIS POSITION:
- The incumbent of this position is responsible for performing multiple testing studies, tasks and assignments, aid in the development of the data processing requirements for the Collection Division and to ensure the requirements of the division and the Department of Revenue (LDR) are met.
- The incumbent is also responsible for handling written inquiries received by the Department in response to billing notices for Individual and business taxes administered by the Department.
- The incumbent must be able to both correspond and verbally communicate with the taxpayers or their representatives.
- The job requires knowledge and ability to act independently make decisions and to communicate effectively with the public and all levels of management and employees In the Department.
- A thorough knowledge of the individual income tax laws, departmental policies and procedures and the Department's information computer System (DELTA) is required.
- The incumbent must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and interpersonal relationships skill and pay attention to details.
- Also the incumbent of this position performs highly responsible administrative work in providing managerial assistance and professional clerical services in the administration of the collection Division.
- The work requires using Independent Judgement and maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

VACANCY INFORMATION:

Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected. If filled as a Job Appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a Probational Appointment should funding become available.
This position will be domiciled in East Baton Rouge Parish . Applicants must select this parish on their application to indicate that they are available to work in the parish of this vacancy.
A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.
LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.
Six years of full-time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required baccalaureate degree.
Candidates without a baccalaureate degree may combine work experience and college credit to substitute for the baccalaureate degree as follows:
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the baccalaureate degree.
30 to 59 semester hours credit will substitute for one year of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
60 to 89 semester hours credit will substitute for two years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
90 to 119 semester hours credit will substitute for three years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
120 or more semester hours credit will substitute for four years of experience towards the baccalaureate degree.
College credit earned without obtaining a baccalaureate degree may be substituted for a maximum of four years full-time work experience towards the baccalaureate degree. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit, but without a degree, must also have at least two years of full-time work experience tosubstitute for the baccalaureate degree.
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Incumbents of these positions will specialize in specific fields when filling the various positions. Only applicants who have had education or experience which is considered necessary for the position will be considered.
