Job description

About the Role:

The Manager, Content Strategy will work within the Dotdash Meredith Finance Group and report to the Director of Finance Content Strategy. This role will focus primarily on content strategy for advertisers in the financial services category, with ability to offer strategic recommendations for advertisers in other categories interested in reaching a financially savvy audience.

The Manager will work with the DDM Sales and Marketing teams to develop custom content solutions for advertisers using an array of tactics, and leveraging the full portfolio of DDM editorial brands. This role will be anchored in pre-sale ideation and program development, but the Manager will work with the content execution team to ensure a seamless transition as projects move from the pre-sale phase into the production process.

About Your Contributions:

  • Work with the Director of Finance Content Strategy and the Vice President of Finance Content Strategy to manage incoming RFPs and new business opportunities that call for custom content falling broadly into four subject matter areas: personal finance, wealth management, retirement planning and investment education.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in the ideation process, coming to the table with on-strategy thought-starters to help drive creative ideation.
  • Develop creative ideas and content plans that align with an advertiser’s goals and play well in the context of DDM’s brands. Your ideas could be rooted in video, written content, interactive storytelling, custom photography and beyond.
  • Interface with internal teams who can operationalize your concepts. These stakeholders could include product developers, video producers, designers, editors, project managers and others.
  • Help represent the DDM Finance team at client meetings and effectively communicate your creative ideas to clients in live pitches.
  • Use DDM data and insights or other market intelligence to build your content strategy and creative ideation.
  • Cultivate close relationships with the editorial staff of DDM Finance brands (Investopedia and The Balance).

About You:

  • Collaborative: You can confidently present your ideas, as well as openly recognize other good ideas — even when they aren’t yours. You also have a strong ability to distill multiple ideas into a coherent thread to help streamline brainstorms. As a dynamic speaker and an acute listener, you enjoy working with the team in order to arrive at a smart conclusion.
  • Communicative: Peers, bosses and collaborative partners flock to you for your dynamic approach and clear communication style whether you’re delivering a presentation, contributing to a Zoom meeting or sending an email. You receive feedback with grace, and you distill information into output that is concise and easily digested by those receiving it. And you ask great questions.
  • Creative: You look at the world through a creative lens and are curious and passionate about the world around you. You push yourself to think of fresh ways to approach storytelling, and usually you come through as your mind defaults to being innovative — even in spite of limits to budget or tools. You are confident in your creative approach and can easily express it to your counterparts when pitching concepts and transferring your vision to the team that will execute.
  • Motivated: You have strong project management skills and an innate sense of priority and self-direction. You love a good deadline, and you always hit it.
  • Organized: You thrive on helping to build efficiencies and you’re driven by prioritization and organization. You’re a born multi-tasker who loves to take on a good challenge, especially on a tight deadline. You see the big picture, but your attention to detail and creativity make you an invaluable asset to any team.
  • Bachelor's Degree required
