Position: Manager, Foundation Partnerships

Location: Nationwide / Remote

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: NYC's minimum salary for this position is $65,300. This may be adjusted to reflect the cost of labor of a candidate’s work location, if outside of NYC.

We are recruiting a Manager, Foundation Partnerships, to secure, manage and grow grants/grant-based initiatives from U.S. institutional foundations into sustainable partnerships to support UNICEF’s program and advocacy goals. The role involves the ability to move between detail-oriented grants-focused work; managing long-term, bigger picture strategy, partnerships, and projects; and building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.


The following abilities will support this role: to inform and influence through speaking and writing; to focus and develop project plans and schedules that integrate sources, tasks, and timelines; to manage professional relationships, and to commit to promoting workplace diversity and inclusion. Additionally, this person should have an interest in international development and commitment to the mandate of UNICEF. This position reports to the Director, Foundation Partnerships.


Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):


Grants and Partnerships Management (75%)


  • Serve as administrative and financial manager over the lifetime of projects, including complex, multi-country investments. Coordinate between multiple internal, external, and international parties to facilitate grant administration.
  • Track implementation, funds utilization, and progress toward achievement of project milestones and deliverables.
  • Prepare and submit timely, consolidated reports, budgets, and results in frameworks to funders and other internal and external stakeholders on the progress of UNICEF’s partnerships with foundations.
  • Grow and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders including but not limited to UNICEF country and regional offices, UNICEF headquarters, and foundation partners. Steward relationships with foundations to expand partnerships and revenue.
  • Develop and manage sub-grant agreements and contracts for non-UNICEF implementing partners; draft and approve scopes of work, budgets, and reporting forms.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Business Development (20%)


  • Support the identification of new funding opportunities with multiple U. S. foundation partners and other key internal/external stakeholders.
  • Support communication and thought leadership efforts to engage with current and prospective partners under the Foundation Partnerships business development strategy.
  • Work closely with UNICEF technical teams to build out resource mobilization strategies and materials.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Other (5%)


  • Maintain and update grants management CRM database and other knowledge management systems.
  • Support development and implementation of annual revenue targets.
  • Liaise with UNICEF USA finance and compliance personnel to resolve any legal, procedural, or financial issues regarding grants, sub-grants, and contracts.
  • Actively support and collaborate to improve operational procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with a focus on U.S. private foundation grants cultivation and management desired, including 2-3 years of experience successfully achieving funding for / administering large-scale projects.
  • Detail-oriented to track funds utilization in multi-country budgets and review/edit complex reports, proposals, and results in frameworks.
  • Proven ability to prioritize; work independently; handle multiple, complex tasks simultaneously; generate pragmatic solutions to real or potential problems; and recognize and leverage key opportunities.
  • Comfort with Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to navigate complex environments and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders and institutions strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with current global health and development issues, and UN agencies preferred.
  • Strong “client service” orientation and interpersonal as well as negotiation, quantitative and analytical, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Some travel required, within the U.S. and internationally (as deemed necessary and safe).
  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in related field welcome.

Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
