About the Role: Reporting to the CFO, the
Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis supports the Company’s broader needs in business planning, forecasting; the creation of dynamic and effective models specific to the unique needs of each of our business segments (and locations); the development of financial reports, dashboards, and ad hoc queries that are valued by our leadership and finance management; and analytic tools that help improve management’s understanding of what decisions and actions are required to drive positive change and profitable growth.
The successful candidate for this role is sought out team member, actively engaged with decision-makers and our finance leaders to increase knowledge and awareness of key business and profit drivers, how we plan and effectively execute the business, and where (and how) we earn our profits measured against the context of what investment is required to support sustainable growth.

Compensation:
The following information is provided in honesty as a general description of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon related factors such as, skills and experience, education, work location, internal pay equity, etc.
Salary Range estimate:
$125,000 - $150,000/ Annually
Role Background: The Company currently tracks its business activities and transactions on three (3) ERPs:
- JDE (Enterprise 1, Vers 9.2)
- TMW/Truckmate (Logistics/Trucking) and
- MS Navision (Europe);
We execute financial reporting and planning (Budgets/forecasts) primarily through Hubble and Excel (along with other applications including KRONOS, NIR, and CAS), and we’re developing analytic tools with QLIK (packing, production, sales, finance, purchasing, logistics). This role must develop and maintain a mastery and knowledge of each of our businesses, how each of these applications supports the needs of the leadership, where there are gaps between what we have and what we need, and then help develop and execute a process to improve the role and visibility of our FPA resource.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports our Director of Finance, Executive Management, and Business leaders in:
- The development and execution of effective business planning processes – ideally using robust dynamic rolling quarterly forecast models (integrated with JDE and other data) – provide flexibility, are user-friendly, and are aligned with how our businesses operate. Each of our five (5) business segments has different drivers to support profitable growth and its unique metrics/KPIs.
- Collaborates with IS, our business Leadership, Controllers, and others to understand how we gather (and where we store) data that will support our planning, reporting, and analytical processes.
- Responsible for all standardized financial reporting across the enterprise and the creation/maintenance of dashboards and Ad Hoc analytic tools (QLIK) that support our team’s needs for this information. Supports our reporting needs in tax, audit, business insurance renewals, and related tasks.
- Collaborates with our business leaders, controllers, and other finance professionals in the development of:
- Analytical tools and processes that speed the timeline of understanding and explaining our results
- Improved margin and bridge analyses (that reconciles margin reports by facility/customer/SKU to period PL reports),
- Gross margin at Standard and actual cost variances to standard reporting (for fresh and biotech segments)
- Multichannel profit reports by distribution lane/route (mushroom margin, LTL margin, freight margin)
- and more.
- Supports the CFO in the time publication of period, quarterly and annual financial reports, including Management Discussion and Analysis (aka Commentary).
- And Other key responsibilities as defined as mutually agreed upon.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other related department duties as assigned.
- Develop reports to assist with internal/external audits, tax, and annual insurance renewals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High drive and innately inquisitive, ambitious about learning and professional development
- Strong financial analysis and accounting knowledge/skills and experience
- Well-organized, positive, strong communication skills, and comfortable working in a distributed team environment comprised of groups with a broad range of educational and business experiences/backgrounds.
- Experience and working knowledge of integrated ERPs, report writing, and ad hoc analysis applications.
- Proven experience in developing financial reports and analyses and driving effective planning processes.
- Strong attention to detail and respect for deadlines and accuracy.
Required:
- B.S. degree in Business, Finance, Ag Economics or Accounting.
- Strong analytical, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced computer (ERP, MS Office, Report writing/Analytic applications) skills.
- Quantitative and analytical skills familiar with demand and production planning concepts.
Desired:
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Ag Economics or accounting, or related fields.
- FPA manager, controller or finance director level experience is strongly preferred.
- Prior work experience in fresh produce, agriculture, packaged foods, or food-manufacturing environment.
